School Crossing

Our School Crossing Supervisor on Bradford Avenue was distressed last week when a car just missed hitting her on the school crossing after our students had crossed the road, but she was still on the crossing. You must NOT cross a school pedestrian crossing until it is clear, not only students, but all adults, including the School Crossing Supervisor!

This is at the direction of Vic Roads as follows:

Farewell to Meredith Clegg and Mimi

After 10 years at Greenvale Primary School, Meredith Clegg, one of our Assistant Principals moves on, taking with her our School Therapy Dog, Mimi. We thank her for everything she has contributed to our school over the last decade. She has been an amazing Assistant Principal over these years. Students have many positive memories of her and Mimi. We celebrated her contribution to our school at a special morning tea. Students in each class wrote her a farewell message to acknowledge her. We wish Meredith all the best in her future endeavours!

Wearing of School Hats

In line with our Sun Smart policy, a reminder that your child

should now be wearing a school hat for any outdoor activity.

Please make sure your child’s hat has their name on it so if

it is misplaced, it can be returned to them. If your child does

not have a hat they will be restricted in their play opportunities

outside. You can purchase a new school hat at the office or on Qkr!

Alternate hats are not part of our school uniform.

Alternate School Time-Table

Thanks to the 176 families who responded to our Stage 2 survey regarding a change to our whole school time table. Community thoughts were really appreciated.

Results are below.

This means that we continue with our current whole school timetable finishing at 3:30pm. We will, however, be exploring the option of swapping the longer outside break to the morning. More to come.

Student Attitude to School Survey 2024

Earlier this year, our Year 4 to Year 6 students completed the on-line Attitude to School survey.

The Student Attitude to School Survey asks students to respond to questions in the domains of:

  1. Effective Teacher Practice
  2. Emotional and Relational Engagement
  3. Individual and Social Wellbeing
  4. Learner Characteristics and Dispositions
  5. Not Experiencing Bullying
  6. Not Experiencing Racism
  7. Physical and Mental Health
  8. School Safety
  9. Social Engagement
  10. Teacher – Student Relations

Our students positive responses were above results in every domain when compared to our:

  • Similar schools like ours across the State
  • Local network of schools
  • All schools in Victoria

This is a truly remarkable achievement!

This indicates our students are really happy to come to school, they understand attendance is important, they have friends at school and feel they belong and are accepted, they are challenged, motivated and enjoy their learning, they feel safe, the school manages bullying well, their perception of their physical health is good, they are resilient and they can self-regulate.
