Kindness in Action
The main aim of the Primary Years Programme is to develop responsible, globally-minded citizens. This is why kindness and compassion are integral to our learning program. Students who are empathetic and compassionate are more likely to take meaningful actions that positively impact their communities and the world. Action is a key element of the PYP and can be demonstrated through various means, including participation, advocacy, social justice, social entrepreneurship, and lifestyle choices.
The PYP’s emphasis on developing kind and compassionate learners closely aligns with the fruit of the Spirit, Kindness. When students practice empathy, they naturally cultivate kindness. For instance, understanding a peer’s struggles can lead to supportive actions such as offering help or encouragement, which exemplifies kindness.
A recent example of kindness in action comes from grade one. When Percy, a student in 1C, noticed another student was upset when not wearing yellow on RUOK? Day, he took the time to check in and reassure his peer.
Another notable act of kindness involved Vihaan Deshpande from 5C, who used his break time to help Ronav, a classmate who missed some music lessons. Vihaan patiently assisted Ronav in catching up on the new concepts taught during his absence.
Lastly, we acknowledge Lincoln from 6A, who showed kindness to his teacher when independently cleaning and reorganising the classroom after completing his learning for the day.
Though they may seem small and simple, these acts of kindness often leave a lasting positive impression on others. Next term, our year five students will explore the concepts of empathy and compassion and how these can inspire us to take positive action. This promises to be a very interesting and engaging unit for the whole community, so stay tuned!

Student-Led Conference Success
We are excited to celebrate the success of our Prep to Year Six student-led conferences! Over the past two weeks, students from Prep to Year Six have showcased their incredible progress, enthusiasm, and ownership of their learning journey. Each conference was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, who confidently presented their achievements, goals, and reflections to their families. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our educators, who worked tirelessly to facilitate this empowering experience for everyone.
We are grateful to the families who attended the conferences. Your active participation and support are greatly appreciated. This successful event demonstrates the positive impact of student involvement and family engagement in education. We look forward to sharing more of our students’ achievements and continued growth next term.
