Showing Kindness
Showing kindness to others is a way to build trusting and respectful relationships with those we interact with and is an important trait to nurture in our students. It plays a significant role in setting a positive culture within our school community. But how can we embody this ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ in our daily interactions?
Kindness is all about showing empathy, compassion and generosity towards others. By modelling kind behaviour and creating opportunities for children to practice kindness, we help them develop strong, positive relationships and contribute to a more caring community. Simple acts of kindness, such as acknowledging others with a smile, making eye contact, or engaging in conversation, can make a significant impact. Checking in on others and truly listening to them are also meaningful ways to show kindness. Spending quality time with someone can have a profound effect on their life, often without us even realising it. As written in Luke 6:35, “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return…” Remember, in order to show kindness to others, we first need to practice self-compassion and take care of our own wellbeing.

R U OK? Week
It was wonderful to celebrate ‘R U OK’ Week with our students from the Mambourin Campus. As part of the planned activities, students actively participated in classroom sessions focused on enhancing their understanding of how to check in with and speak to others. These conversations were important and impactful, helping to set the tone for the remainder of the week!
Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities at our campus. These included colouring mindfulness activities, writing messages to each other throughout the week in chalk, listening to our older GNLC students perform during their lunch break, playing a range of lawn games, and taking part in various picnic games. The week was successful and conveyed a very important message!

Prep News
Term 3 has been full of learning growth and creativity as we explored our unit of inquiry. We explored: Living things need different energy sources to survive. They learned to define the criteria of living things. They learned the meaning of ‘change’ through growing seeds and learning about life cycles. In this unit, they learned to sort and classify information and express orally their new understandings. It has been a successful inquiry full of discoveries.
