Ryan’s Rambling
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term Four! I am so very proud of our students for transitioning back to school routines quickly and calmly. There is a real sense of optimism across the school.
We had a number of excursions occur this week, which were very exciting. Our 5/6 students attended Earth Ed to engage in coding and mathematics. Perhaps, we may find a few of our students with a career in robotic engineering! Our Young Authors program culminated in a Literacy Walk and excursion to Melbourne, where all participating schools celebrated a fantastic year of learning.
Next week, our Swimming Program begins. I thank all the parents who have volunteered their time to help supervise students. The Swimming Program is set to be another positive experience for our students. Sadly, each year over summer, we often hear about a tragic drowning of a child somewhere in Australia. Whilst we are not aiming to prepare Olympic level swimmers, the program is designed to ensure all participants have necessary survival skills, should they find themselves unexpectedly in water.
I have had a few parents enquire about transition for 2025, our ‘Bus’ processes and timelines for these. We are still a few weeks away from beginning this process; however, I thought it pertinent to outline it here. We run a number of transition sessions with our current students, where we look at different groupings of students. This begins Mid November. During these sessions, your child will spend some time with different students and teachers. We review these groupings over few weeks. Whilst this is happening, our students nominate five children on their ‘Bus’ who they would be happy to be in a class with. We ensure that all students get at least one student from their ‘Bus’ for classes for next year. As you can imagine, there is quite a number of hours spent on ensuring that we strike the best balance for our students. Students typically find out their teacher and class for the following year, in early December.
As it is Term Four, please remember to send your child to school with a wide brimmed hat, as per our SunSmart Policy. From Monday. students without hats are not permitted to play in the yard where there is direct sunshine.
All the best to Mikiah today, who is representing our school at the Greater Regional Athletics Competition. Mikiah will be competing in the 100m hurdles event.
Finally, due to our Swimming Program, please note that there will be no assembly for the following two weeks.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ryan
