The Strengths and Passions Leadership Program is a small group program, facilitated by The Workshop (www.theworkshop.org.au).
The program will create new ways of celebrating strengths through learning new ideas and strategies focused on positive friendships, leadership, assertive communication, problem solving, positive mental health and resilience. As part of the program, students will identify their strengths and talents and individual strategies for managing difficulties at home, school and in the community.
Students will work in small groups comprised of Year 7 and 8 students to develop a group project based on their talents, passions and skills. Projects may include (but are not limited to) peer activities for younger students including a primary school workshop, support of local charities or causes, education and engagement with other students and staff at Highvale Secondary College around an issue they feel passionately about.
In two weeks' time, the students in this program will be visiting Highvale Primary School to deliver a session to the Grade 6 students supporting their transition to High School.
