The Year 12 Food Studies class celebrated their final lesson with a well-deserved Breakfast Bash! The room was filled with the delicious aromas of freshly squeezed orange juice, crispy bacon and eggs, golden hash browns, grilled tomatoes and beautifully light soufflé pancakes.

But this session was more than just a feast — it was also a chance to reflect on and revise key concepts from throughout the year. Students tackled thought-provoking questions about what was happening during the cooking process and explored topics such as healthy diets, sustainable farming practices, the digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, food intolerances and allergies, biosecurity, paleo diets, healthy gut microbiota, general level and high level health claims and the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
It was a fitting and flavourful finale to a year of hard work, creativity and culinary discovery. Wishing all of the class the very best for their upcoming exams and future careers.

The Year 12’s have been working hard and have embraced the extra revision made available to them in the lead up to their Year 12 English Exam. Students have been diligent in attending English Help in Period 6 with alumnae tutors and the after-school lectures prepared for them by the Year 12 English team. Ms Tassone presented on how to best illustrate one’s written craft for Section B: Protest, whilst I presented a tips and tricks lecture for Section C: Analysis of argument and language.
On Monday, 13 October, our resident text response gurus Ms Bull and Ms Martin presented their vivid insights on Section A: Analytical response to text, for Sophocles’ ‘Oedipus the King’ and Tessa Hadley’s ‘Bad Dreams’ respectively. It was most pleasing to see so many students attend and a big thank-you must go to the Year 12 English team for giving up their time to make sure that our students are as best prepared as they can possibly be for their 3-hour English examination on Tuesday, 28 October. Keep the momentum going Year 12’s!

In their third outcome for Religion and Society, our Year 11 students have been investigating the ways religion interacts with and contributes to Australian society. Through this unit, students explored how Australia’s political and cultural landscape has been shaped by its diverse faith traditions, during one week they had a particular focus Ecumenical Interaction.
Students examined how events like the World Parliament of Religions promote dialogue and understanding between faiths, and how initiatives such as Harmony Day encourage respect, inclusion and a celebration of diversity in our communities. These discussions invited students to reflect on the importance of religious freedom, mutual respect and the common good in a multicultural nation.

To consolidate their learning, students created informative and visually engaging posters that demonstrated their understanding of the role religion plays in fostering unity and harmony in Australia. Their work showcased both their creativity and their growing awareness of how faith can inspire cooperation, compassion and peace in our world today.
