5/6

Ms Brittany Barmby, Miss Holly McGowan, Mr Jared Baum, Mrs Rowena Lytton,

Max Keith, Nicole Riley & Bianca Gallicchio.

We have had a great few weeks in the 5/6 area. We have been busy focusing on our classroom work as well as a whole range of extra activities. We dressed up for halloween, our Grade 6s have been busy learning their Graduation dance, our Grade 5s have been organising speeches for 2026 captains and our Softballers have been busy training for the Regionals last Wednesday.

Literacy

We have been learning about the First Fleet, settlement and how Australian society has been shaped by our history. We have been learning the content during Reading and Discovery. Our students have begun writing information reports about the First Fleet. If you would like to help your child with their reading and writing, you may like to research The First Fleet and Australian settlement with them.

Mathematics

We have just finished out unit on probability. Students have been learning to discuss the likelihood of given events and converting the outcome from a fraction to a decimal and percentage. We are about to start learning to locate and plot points on a cartesian plane. They will also be learning to give directions using grid maps. If you would like to help your child with mathematics, encourage them to learn their multiplication tables fluently (off by heart).

Softball

Congratulations to our Boys Softball team who went to Regionals on Wednesday. We won two of our three games and placed third in our region. Thank you to the girls who came with us ready to step in if needed and keeping us organised throughout the day. Thank you also to Ester and Antoinette who came and helped us throughout the season. We appreciate you.
