Careers Corner
Mrs Rachel Galvin
While the year feels like it is coming to a close, there are many new beginnings in the pipeline across our college. One of those new beginnings is the transition our Year 10 students will make into their senior pattern of study in 2026. Year 10 students received their stage 6 subjects at the end of last term and have spent Careers lessons focusing on goal setting, time management and study skills.
If your child is considering an alternate pattern of study in stage 6 (School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships or TAFE-delivered VET) , please make contact with me by calling the College office or emailing rgalvin@arm.catholic.edu.au so that planning and enrolment can begin.
Planning is underway for the 2025 Year 10 Alternate Program. Throughout week 9, students will have opportunities to engage with cultural, wellness and Stage 6 prep workshops targeted to their senior study needs. Visits to the University of New England and Southern Cross University form part of the week, giving students the opportunity to meet current university students across a range of faculties and tour tertiary education facilities. Keep an eye on Compass over the coming weeks for a full time table and event details.
Our fantastic Class of 2025 are starting their own new beginnings as they move from school into work, further study and gap years. Congratulations on the completion of your HSC and the culmination of your formal schooling!
Some important dates from the University Admission Centre for Semester 1 2026 entry:

Perhaps the most daunting new beginning is for our Year 11 students who have transitioned to their HSC year this term. There will be many decisions and plans to be made throughout the next 12 months while they study for the HSC and plan their pathways for 2027 and beyond. All students should be in the year Google Classroom “Class of 2026”. If your child is not in this group, please have them join using the code: cb6bt2j. The Google Classroom will be the main source of communication for all things careers, including; university admission, TAFE and traineeship opportunities. Good luck to all students starting their HSC journey, remember a little bit each week will go a long way towards your success. Be organised, be kind and help one another.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-12
