Parent Wellbeing: a great strategy to put yourself in a positive frame of mind every morning, is to spend five minutes over a cuppa or a coffee, to think about and then write down what you are looking forward to most for the day ahead. They don’t have to be big things. It’s funny how looking forward to something lifts your spirits and raises your self–awareness to be on the lookout for little positives. Remember, from little things, big things grow. What are you looking forward to today?

Benilde

Welcome back to Term 4 Benilde! We hope all students and families enjoyed a well-deserved break and are returning refreshed, ready for the final term of the school year. Term 4 is always an exciting and busy time, filled with learning opportunities, celebrations and preparations for the 2026 new school year.

As we begin the term, we continue to hold high expectations for all our students both in their learning and in the way they demonstrate respectful, safe and being a learner in our school community. It’s a time to finish strong, continue to work towards your goals and support one another in making Term 4 a positive and productive end to the year - Year 11’s it’s time to step up, remember you are the seniors of this college at the present moment and are the role models the students look towards.

A reminder that summer uniform is now required. Students should ensure they are wearing the correct uniform each day and presenting themselves with pride, as representatives of our college. Seniors are only allowed to wear their jersey every Friday, if you continue to wear it on other days you may lose these privileges. Thank you to parents and carers for your continued support in maintaining these standards.

Looking ahead, Term 4 brings a number of exciting events, including presentation day, year 7 and 8 lifesaving, term 5 and many other events I can’t remember off the top of my head. To finish our newsletter this week please read a special message from our new house captains Nicholas Miller and Anna McClelland:

“My name is Anna McClelland and I am Co-captain of the Benilde house alongside Nick Miller for the upcoming year of 2026. O’Connor has played a huge role in shaping the person I am today and I am committed to carrying its spirit with diligence and pride. I am more than honored to fulfil this role and I look forward to connecting with the O’Connor Catholic College community on a deeper level. As will every other year 12 student I promise to be that super crazy senior student that everyone looks at and goes “Wow, they've completely lost it,” I’ll be the one dancing in the hallways, starting random chants in assemblies and pretending every class is a reality show. The 2026 year ahead promises many exciting events and opportunities and I am confident that together we will make 2026 a year of growth, achievement and pride for all members of our College. “
“Stepping into captaincy this term I Nicholas Miller am excited about getting to know my house and get house spirit to the fullest. Over the next 12 months as a house captain I want to build off the house's foundation and create a strong house bond. I’m really excited to be able to lead Benilde into house events with a strong mind and lead by example getting them to get in and have a go. I’m excited to go on this journey as a house captain as I love working with the younger years and am ambitious to achieve my goals.”

La Salle

What a busy and exciting Term 4 we have ahead of us! We extend a huge welcome back to all our students and families in La Salle House. This term is crucial for finishing the year strong, and we are focused on maintaining high standards in three key areas: learning engagement, presentation, and community spirit.

It is important that classes are well and truly settled, allowing us to move swiftly into the final phase of the year. Our primary goal this term is driving engaged learning in every classroom. Engaged learning means students are meeting behavioural expectations, actively participating, asking questions, seeking feedback, and taking ownership of their academic progress and to set them up for success.

As we enter the final term, maintaining our College standards is paramount, especially regarding presentation. We hold high uniform expectations for all OCC students. A neat and correct uniform reflects pride in our College and respect for our community. We particularly look forward to Wednesday when we are all in our formal attire and look fabulous. A couple of important reminders regarding adherence to the College Uniform Policy: if for a legitimate reason, your child is temporarily unable to wear the correct uniform, they must bring a signed note from home explaining the situation and detailing when the issue will be rectified. Please remember that non-OCC items are not acceptable.

The uniform shop is open on Monday and Wednesday if you need items updated.

In our school assembly today our student leaders showed their gratitude to our teachers as we celebrate World Teachers' Day which falls on Friday 31st October.

Our La Salle House Captains Caitlin and Evie shared a video with votes of thanks to the teachers. Noting their dedication, compassion, and commitment are what make our House and College community so strong.

We look forward to a successful and productive Term 4 with all our La Salle families. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Merici

Welcome back to Term 4! It’s wonderful to see our Merici students returning with enthusiasm and focus as we move into the final stretch of the year. This term is an important time to finish well — staying engaged in learning, maintaining high standards, and continuing to bring that warm Merici spirit into everything we do.

Our Year 12 students have now officially graduated and are preparing for their upcoming formal, while also completing their final HSC exams. We continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they finish this final chapter of their school journey. We’re so proud of all they’ve achieved and the leadership they’ve shown within Merici House.

Congratulations once again to Rhiannon Heagney and Regan Nugent, who have stepped into their roles as Merici House Captains for 2026. Both have already demonstrated great energy, care, and leadership potential — we’re excited to see what they’ll bring to the role.

As we settle into the term, it’s important that we uphold our College standards, especially regarding presentation and uniform. A neat and correct uniform reflects pride in ourselves and in our school community. If a student is temporarily unable to wear the correct uniform, a signed note from home is required, explaining the reason and when it will be rectified. Please remember that non-OCC items are not acceptable, and the uniform shop is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays if any items need updating.

Thank you to all our Merici families for your continued support. Let’s keep working hard and supporting one another as we move through the final weeks of the year.

Warm regards,

Shane McCann
