Dear Parents, Caregivers, Staff, Students, and Friends,
In this week’s newsletter, I will publish all the elective lines together for easy reference. I’ll also talk a bit about the new Angela Building refurbishment, now that it is fully operational.
Subject selection season has run its course now, with all elective lines finalised. Here they are for 2026.
Year 9 Elective Lines 2026

Year 10 Elective Lines 2026

Year 11 Subject Lines 2026

All students in Year 8, 9, and 10 have been emailed their allocated choices. This does not mean that changes are not allowed. Please feel free to email me at schapman@arm.catholic.edu.au if you want to change your choices. Just remember that everyone needs a subject on each line.
Welcome to Mr. Mark Aarts!

In other news, we are thrilled to have secured a language teacher for 2026. Mr. Mark Aarts will be joining us as a Language and Religion teacher, and the language is Latin.
Here’s a video that explains some of the benefits of learning Latin as a language. A quick Google Search brings up many other great reasons to learn Latin.
Learning Latin in school can improve English vocabulary and grammar skills, enhance logical thinking and analytical abilities, and make it easier to learn other Romance languages like French, Spanish, and Italian. It also provides a deeper understanding of Roman history, law, and philosophy, and offers a gateway to reading foundational Western texts and scientific and medical terminology in their original forms.
Mr. Aarts has a deep passion for teaching Latin and brings a depth of experience to us. All Year 8 students will have Latin classes in 2026 to fulfil the requirement of 100 hours of learning a language in Year 7 or 8 in NSW.
Now that the new library has opened, we have all areas of the revamped Angela building open. What a fantastic new resource we have! The architects and builders have done an amazing job preserving the history of the building while bringing the space into the modern world. Here are some photos as I walked around this area today.

English lessons are being taught in the new classrooms in the Angela Building.

The historic stairwell in the admin building was preserved with wonderful brass touches added.

The library is now open, back in the space it was before (AG4/5, or the Examination Centre)

Yours sincerely,
Mr Stephen Chapman
