From the Assistant Principal, Cocurricular

Thank you all for the outstanding efforts you have put into the conclusion of the summer season and the commencement of the winter season trials as we finish Term 1.

I take this opportunity to wish our 1st XI every success as they travel to Queensland for the Southport School Tournament over the break.

In addition, we have students participating in training camps throughout the holidays in both rugby and football, and I thank everyone involved for their support.

As we move into Term 2 and the start of the winter sports season, please ensure that your sons have the correct uniform and equipment for their respective activities.

Have a lovely Easter and a very restful break. I look forward to seeing you all during Term 2.

Mr Matt Stearn - Assistant Principal, Cocurricular

Message for All Year 7 Basketballers & Development Players

Thank you to all families and players who have already returned their loaned basketball singlets from the recent season, your promptness is much appreciated!

For those who still have a singlet at home, please ensure it is returned by Friday of Week 1, Term 2. These singlets are part of our loan system and must be accounted for so they can be prepared for future use.

If a singlet is not returned by this deadline, a charge may be added to your son’s school fees to cover the cost of replacement.

We appreciate your support and cooperation in helping us manage our sporting resources responsibly.

We foster creativity by providing the players technical building blocks & encouraging creative actions in developmentally appropriate games. Our games are designed to be fun, challenging and to reward success and risk-taking.

Rugby

A Proud Tradition Continues: A Strong Start for the 1st XV

The Ross Fagan Shield Match, first contested in the early 1950s, remains a cornerstone of our rugby tradition. It was great to see this legacy upheld once again on Saturday, with a fiercely competitive game that showcased the spirit and passion of schoolboy rugby.

Congratulations to our 1st XV on an outstanding performance, securing a commanding 56–5 victory for the second year in a row. This result marks an excellent start to the season and reflects the hard work and dedication shown by both players and coaching staff in the pre-season.

We look forward to building on this momentum, ready for the ISA season ahead. Well done to all involved!

Rugby Registration will continue to be OPEN

All Year 5-12 students wishing to play rugby are required to be registered via Clipboard. This allows the school rugby administrators and coaches to best prepare for the coming season, plus allows your SPX Rugby Club to best support and communicate with you! There are no trials or grading days, all students are encouraged to get involved.

The following link will direct you to clipboard: https://portal.clipboard.app/stpiusx. Please note that payment for the season will be made upon registration.

If you have any issues pleases contact Mr Justin Gates, Senior Rugby Convenor jgates@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au

Holiday Rugby Clinic

The annual Easter Holiday rugby clinic will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, 16 - 17 April.  This is a great opportunity for the students to make sure they are well and truly prepared for the season and will help them put their best foot forward for the ISA season. Coaching staff will be Trytime coaches and special guest coaches.  Position-specific coaching will be given, as well as team play.  It is a great chance for students to work on their skills and confidence before the season commences.

ISA Tennis

Last Saturday, our Oxford Falls training grounds were buzzing with energy as over 60 students took to the courts for our SPX Tennis Championships! The competition was fierce, with a round-robin pool leading into knockout finals that kept everyone on their toes.

After a thrilling day of rallies, and some seriously competitive spirit, we’re proud to announce the champions of each pool:

  • Adrian Yip

  • Ben Shoudra

  • Noah Safarian

  • Nicholas Hanna

Congratulations to all our players for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Looking forward to the winter season that commences next Term.
