INTERSCHOOL SPORTS SUMMER EDITION 2025

Today our school very proudly sent off five teams to compete in our district interschool sport competition! All teams represented BPS with the utmost respect, responsibility, and resilience from the very start to the very end - such a proud statement to be made. See the following for sport specific news:

🏀 Basketball:

Team A had an outstanding day, winning three out of four games and earning a spot in the semi-finals. Despite a strong effort, we narrowly missed advancing to the grand final. Zac, Buddy, Bailen, Alex, Winston, Jay, and Hayden displayed excellent sportsmanship, showing respect both on and off the court. Congratulations on a fantastic day!

Team B had an exciting day at Interschool Sports, winning two out of their three games and coming incredibly close to reaching the finals. Each player demonstrated outstanding basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to Cohen, Jaxson, Josh A, Levi, Zac O, Zaden, and Zeke for your determination and effort. Well done, team!

🏐 Volleyball: Our amazing girls team made up of Piper, Chantrea, Sophia, Cooper, Ava, and Marnie had such an awesome day, playing against four other local teams. In total they played five incredible games, winning two and playing in the semi-finals - amazing effort! And of course, these girls kept their heads high throughout the day. The amazing team work, values, and fun the girls showed yesterday was by far the highlight of the day - well done girls!

🎾 Tennis: Our Hotshots tennis team: Elliot, Silas, Mason M, Noah M, Curtis, Harri, and Jeremy showed outstanding sportsmanship yesterday as they played a mixture of singles and doubles. This and their tennis skills showed them through to the semi-finals - incredible! Even though they didn't make it to finals, their resilience and perseverance made the day as great as it was - way to go!

🏏 Cricket: Our whole cricket team reported back with such enjoyment from the fun that they had in their competitions. Playing against three other teams, our mixture of boys and girls worked hard when both batting and fielding. Even though, our team didn't make it to the semi-finals, they had smiles on throughout the day and held their heads high, proud to be Bunyip's cricket team - well done guys!

ART

Last week, Bunyip Primary School participated in the Bunyip Art Show, with students submitting students their own artworks, as well as two artworks from each year level.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the students that submitted their artwork from home for the show.

I am incredibly proud to announce several students won awards at the Bunyip Show. Congratulations to Tazmyn for winning first place in Primary Art Grade 1 and Charli  for winning third in Children's Crafts.

Huge congratulations to Winston H, Aria , Marlie , Kenzi, Zoe and Bonita  for receiving honourable mentions for their artwork.

While I wish I could of taken everyone's art work to the show, it’s always a challenge to make selections when there are so many talented pieces to choose from, and this year was no exception! Taking just two pieces from each class was so hard and I want all students to know I am proud of all the work and effort that was done in class made towards creating their artworks. Well done students :)

Miss Taylor is also happy to announce she entered into the adult's section and came 1st and 2nd in the Still Life category.

SCIENCE:

Our chickens are growing super quickly! Thankfully we have a team of dedicated students looking after them & maintaining their fresh digs.

This week, the Grade 4-6 students had cool opportunities to partake in some of EcoLinc's Enrichment Science Programs, including 'Fossil Forensics' & 'Plant Portraits'.

Our student's showcased their incredible creative & critical thinking skills.

SUSTAINABILITY:

Congratulations to MARNIE & LAKER for winning our Bebo Colouring Competition this term. A special mention to Ava A, whose picture included many extra cool creative elements :)
