Year Two - Spotlight on Learning

Damascus Community

Dear Families,

Congratulations on a successful first term. We had such a wonderful time and did some amazing learning. Thank you to the hard work of our students and the support of our families in ensuring our students have succeeded. We hope you have a safe and restful school holidays and Easter with your families. See you ready for Term 2 on Tuesday 22nd.

To support our learning of History in Integrated Studies we had special visits from three staff members who shared stories of their childhood. Thank you to Mr Mac, Mrs Chappell and Miss Blake for sharing your stories. Your children may ask you to share some stories of your childhood and family history too!

We had a bittersweet farewell to two of our staff members this week as well. Ms Smith leaves us to have her baby boy. We wish her all the best as her family grows to four. B Sensei also leaves us pursue her work in Japanese. We wish her the best in her future career. We welcome back Mrs Avard to 2D who has been undertaking her final placement for the majority of this term.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education: We will be looking at the final days of Holy Week, Jesus resurrection and why Easter is such an important time in the Catholic Calendar.

Mathematics: We will revisit place value and look at place value of up to three-digit numbers.

English: We will be looking at the book 'Anzac Ted' where students will unpack key vocabulary within the text. Students will undertake activities related to the story and look at unscrambling sentences. Our spelling focus is the /ar/ vs /a/ rule.

Auslan: This week we being Unit 3 where we are learning we can shake our head  to show the opposite of a sign as we sign it.

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: We are focusing on personal and cultural strengths.
