From the Deputy Principal

As we approach Easter break, I wish all families a restful break where we can be nourished by some precious family time. Term holidays can also be challenging, especially when trying to juggle work commitments with the children being home from school, so I hope that juggle goes well.
I send our special thoughts to our farming families, who are embarking on a very busy time of year with seeding. I hope that having an extra helper or two returning to the farm for the two weeks will help your programs!
This week, we celebrated Easter in various ways. We held a large chapel service for Years Three to Twelve on Monday, where Mr Irving led us through the message, “No greater love than this,” and students shared various reflections, prayers, and readings of the gospel on the Passion of Christ. We also had some Ministry in Music, including Mr Irving and Matilda Comer leading our hymn “The Servant King” with Mr Irving on piano. It was a great moment to see Mr Irving leading the school, standing behind a piano with a microphone!
This week, another amazing Easter tradition occurred with the ECC’s Easter Hat parade on Wednesday! Thank you to all our families that helped our young students prepare their special hats for this parade. It was clear that a lot of work went into these hats, and the smiles on faces as the students walked through the whole school and ended in the hall for a dance party were amazing!
The community was also out in force last weekend with the P&F Afternoon on the Knoll, where families gathered for a picnic on school grounds down near the banks of Oyster Harbour and listened to live music as they got together and shared stories. Thank you to the P&F committee for all their organisation and for putting on a great event for the community to enjoy. Communities are built on the foundation of kind-hearted and hard-working volunteers, and I extend my sincere gratitude to the P&F committee for all the work they do.
I wish all our GSG families a wonderful break. I hope to see many of you at the Cross Country on Friday to help end the term in a very positive manner.
