Noise level on the stairs and moving around the school during specialist lessonsall

We move safely and quietly on the stairs so we do not disrupt the other classes that are learning

NO jumping from the steps on the junior deck

PREPWe move safely and look out for others

Suggestions from the SRC

  • PJ day to raise money for something - something to do at the end of the year

Safety issues from the SRC

  • Running and TAG games on the adventure playground- especially for our Prep friends

The Berry Street Education Model is a set of strategies developed through research that are being used within our classrooms and our school. BSEM is used to provide safe, inclusive and positive learning environments and to build strong relationships.

This approach enables all staff to work with all students to improve learning outcomes and also teach our students how to deal with different situations both in and out of the classroom.

Brain breaks in the classroom at Trinity

Brain Breaks:

  • Quick, easy activities to help students re-energise, refocus and give their brains a boost.
  • Are short lesson ‘interruptions’ to enable a renewed focus on learning
  • Research shows that giving students frequent brain breaks to reset their energy level improves their ability to focus, retain more information, and stay on task.
  • Take less than 4 minutes
  • Build individual student self-awareness and develop self-regulation of energy and emotions
  • Reinforce positive classroom behaviours
  • Provide positive escalation - to increase student energy if they are feeling ‘flat’
  • Provide positive de-escalation to calm/centre students if they are escalated and need to reset for learning

Brain breaks vary from year level across the school.

Teachers use brain breaks as useful strategies to build their positive classroom climate.

Brain breaks  provide positive emotions through individual, partner or group activities.

Students can engage in a burst of physical movement, including going outside for a run or a mental challenge, a fun game or something to share and discuss together .

Here are some examples, try them at home!!!
