Year 3/4TR RECONCILIATION
In Year 3/4 TR this week, students have been working hard in our RE unit on Healing and Forgiveness. In our RE unit on Forgiveness and Healing, the students will explore the concepts of forgiving and healing through the sacrament of Reconciliation. They will explore the different Rites of Reconciliation celebrated in the Catholic Church. They will examine the four stages of reconciling a friendship and make connections to Bible stories such as Zaccheaus and the Prodigal Son. Students will be invited to write their own prayers of forgiveness and healing and to express their new learnings.
One of the learning tasks students will participate in is to sit in a circle and discuss how important it is to forgive and how giving the gift of forgiveness will make both you and the person you are forgiving feel better. Students will consider the following questions:
- Why do we need to forgive?
- When is it easy to forgive
- When is it hard to forgive
- What if we never forgave anyone?
- How does forgiveness help us to heal?
Also some of our Year 3 students have celebrated their participation in the First Reconciliation Program with Mr Ru, on Wednesday 26th March at St James Church. We congratulate and pray for these students: Alec, Amelia, Romeo, Phoebe, Mason, Alicia, Thomas, Frankie, Marley, Lilly, Olivia, Maple, Emmy, Quentin, Savannah, Deng and Oscar.
