PRAYER

The theme, Unite Against Poverty, resonates deeply with the teachings of Jesus, who showed great care for the poor and marginalised. In Matthew 25, Jesus said,

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.”

This Friday, students will take part in the Caritas K’s Walk around St Liborius oval.  As we unite together to help those that live in poverty, we aim to support Project Compassion by donating any coins. This week you may notice our Year 6 Leaders from the Spiritual/Wellbeing Group around the school with the Project Compassion boxes.  Any donations are greatly appreciated.

BENDIGO PALM SUNDAY WALK for Justice, Freedom and Peace.

Bendigo Churches and community groups ask you to stand up for justice, decency and compassion on 13th April at Lake Weeroona from 12.00 – 1.00 pm. Thousands of refugees and people seeking asylum are still in limbo waiting for justice and certainty about their future. Join at the north end of the Lake; register, sign our letter of support, and walk around Weeroona as a gesture of solidarity with these forgotten people. Palm Sunday is when we remember how Jesus rode determinedly into Jerusalem to challenge authority with the demands of love. For us, it is an opportunity to demonstrate our discipleship in doing the same.

BE A GOOD EGG THIS EASTER

BE A GOOD EGG THIS EASTER and make sure your Easter chocolate is slavery-free. A significant portion of chocolate comes from cocoa beans harvested by child labourers enduring enslavement and exploitative working conditions. As Pope Francis says: “Every person ought to have the awareness that purchasing is always a moral – and not simply an economic – act”. Scan the QR code to check out how your favourite brand rates? (Note Cadbury is owned by Mondelez.) Use these logos to identify slavery-free chocolate.
