A Night to Remember: French Dinner at the recently renovated Cyprian Pavilion

Last Tuesday night, the newly renovated Cyprian Pavilion came alive with the vibrant sounds and flavours of France as it hosted a Senior French dinner event that had been on hiatus for the past five years due to COVID-19 and renovation activities. The evening saw the participation of French students and teachers from five schools, including Mt St Michaels, St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace, and St John Fisher, among others.

The event was a collaborative effort, with Marist College Ashgrove's Hospitality students from grades 10 to 12 taking the lead in preparing and serving a delectable three-course dinner. The main courses featured mouth-watering beef cheeks and chicken dishes accompanied by a variety of vegetables, showcasing the students' culinary skills.

The day began early, with activities kicking off at 8:30 am and continuing until 9:00 pm. It was a long and demanding day for the students, who performed exceptionally well under the watchful eyes of their assessors. They were evaluated on their front and back of house skills, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real-world setting.

Special recognition goes to Ms Sue Going, Mrs Robyn Gooley, and Mrs Dawn Spicer for their expert guidance and support throughout this long day. Their dedication and expertise were instrumental in making the event a resounding success. A big thank you must also go to Ms. Lisa Deckers and Ms. Coby Pooler who also assisted with supervision, and Ms. Lucia Del Vecchio coordinated the whole event.

The Senior French dinner at the Cyprian Pavilion was not just a culinary delight but also a testament to the hard work and talent of the students and teachers involved. It was a night to remember, filled with delicious food, great company, and a celebration of French culture.
