From the Instructional Specialist

As we come to the end of Term 1, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for your ongoing support and engagement in your child’s learning. It’s been a wonderful start to the year, and we are so proud of the effort and growth we’ve seen in our students over the term.

The holidays are an important time for students to take a well-earned break—to rest, reset, and recharge both their bodies and minds. After such a busy and productive term, time to unwind is essential to ensure they are refreshed and ready to embrace the learning of Term 2.

While it’s helpful to keep a little bit of routine over the holidays (like consistent sleep and mealtimes), we encourage families to prioritise relaxation and quality time together. Whether it’s a slow morning, a walk in the park, or a family board game night, the simple moments are often the most meaningful.

Here are some ideas to enjoy the break while also giving children the rest they need:

1. Enjoy the Outdoors: Take advantage of Sydney’s beautiful autumn weather by visiting a local park or beach. A simple day out enjoying nature can be a refreshing change of pace for the whole family.

2. Plan Playdates or Group Activities: School holidays are a great time to catch up with friends. Organising playdates or fun group outings gives children a chance to stay connected socially in a relaxed setting.

3. Take Part in the Community: We encourage you to go to your local ANZAC Day Service, where students will have the opportunity to reflect on the significance of this day and honour those who have served.

4. Encourage Creativity at Home: Drawing, building, painting, or storytelling are fantastic ways to keep kids engaged while allowing their minds to wander and relax.

5. Spend Quality Time Together: Whether it’s cooking a meal, doing some arts and crafts, or reading a book together, these shared experiences strengthen family bonds and create lasting memories.

Thank you once again for all you do to support your child’s journey at school. We hope you enjoy a restful, joy-filled break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back, ready to learn in Term 2.
