Year 5 Jacqueline Harvey Author Visit and Book Launch Event - Tuesday 6 May, 2025

You don’t need a crystal ball to know that this new series by Jacqueline Harvey is bound to be a bestseller. ‘The Ghost and the Girl’ is delightful, with a gorgeous French setting, colourful characters and a mystery to solve. You have to wait until the series is released in May, but Jacqueline Harvey’s fans will be thrilled by the new series - and I think there will be a new brigade of fans hooked by this tale.'

Paul Macdonald: Paul's Book Trail

We are excited that Jacqueline Harvey is visiting Year 5 to speak about her brand new book, The Girl and the Ghost. On Tuesday, 6 May, our girls will spend the morning listening to Jacqueline speak about her writing process, her research, and the fun she had with her new character, Josephine.

We are also delighted to make available to the girls the opportunity to purchase signed copies of Jacqueline’s book. Please tap on the link to order your copies before the event.

Additionally Jacqueline Harvey is hosting a French themed high tea launch party in the city to celebrate The Girl and the Ghost on Sunday 4 May 12.00 - 2.00pm. It’s a lovely opportunity to dress up and have a fun day out. This is an optional event for families (not a school event).

Junior School Mother's Day Breakfast - Thursday 8 May, 2025 - Tivoli Forecourt - 7.30-8.30am

We warmly invite our Preparation to Year 6 Mothers to the Junior School Mother's Day Breakfast.

** PLEASE NOTE - all students attending the breakfast are to wear full Winter Uniform including blazer and panama hat. If Sport/PE is timetabled on that day, please pack sports uniforms in Kambala Sports bag to change into.

Year 5 Excursion to Taronga Zoo Sydney - Thursday 8 May, 2025

An excursion to Taronga Zoo has been organised for students in Year 5 on Thursday 8 May, 2025. A permission form was forwarded to all Year 5 Parents earlier today.

Students will travel by bus from Kambala to Taronga Zoo.

On this excursion, students should wear their full sports uniform, including their Sports Cap. Girls must wear their Sports Zip Jacket (NO FLEECE!) over their coloured House Polo shirt. Track suit pants may be brought only if the weather is inclement and may be worn over sports shorts. Please apply SUNSCREEN prior to coming to school.

Students are to arrive at school by 8.25 am for roll call and they will return to school at approximately 3:00pm in time for normal carline collection or Thursday Extra-Curricular activities. They are required to bring all food and water for the day in their BLACK KAMBALA EXCURSION BAG.

Please note - NO CANTEEN ORDERS ON THIS DAY - all food and water must be taken with the girls on the bus in the morning in their Kambala black excursion bag.

We require three (3) parent volunteers for this excursion. Please email melina_sallos@kambala.nsw.edu.au if you would like to accompany the Year 5 cohort on this day.

All extra-curricular activities will go ahead in the afternoon after returning from Taronga Zoo.

Walk Safely to School Day - Friday 16 May 2025

We are excited to promote with families and girls the Kambala Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 16 May, 2025.

As I see Bayview Hill Road and Tivoli Avenue heaving at times (particularly before school) under the volume of cars I would like to commend to girls and their families this initiative.

Prep to Year 6 girls will be able to come to school in their PE uniform on Friday 16 May 2025.

Each student who walks all or part of they way to school with earn one house point with the winning house being announced thereafter.

If your daughter has a representative event on that day - for example, IPSHA Debating, please pack her Winter uniform in her Sports bag.
