From Mr Coppin

Celebrating our Grandparents

We were incredibly delighted that the sun shone on Kambala on Monday 7 April as we gathered to celebrate our cherished Kambala Grandparents — a treasured part of our extended school community.

In addition to the delightful classroom visits from Preparation to Year 2, our guests were treated to marvellous Massie Music performances that filled the space with joy. 2012 Prep Starter and Communications Prefect Anna Mavrakis spoke beautifully, sharing that Grandparents Day remains one of her fondest Kambala memories — a day that honours not just presence, but legacy.

Ms Danvers expressed heartfelt gratitude to our grandparents, recognising them as powerful educators in their own right. Through stories, traditions, encouragement, and unconditional love, grandparents play a quiet yet profound role in shaping the values and guiding the growth of their grandchildren. “You know,” she shared, “there are still times in my life when I reflect and think to myself, ‘What would Nana Coppin do?’ — and the answer will often set me on the right path.” That simple reflection is a testament to the wisdom and influence grandparents carry.

Indeed, grandparents are the keepers of family history, resilience, and deep life lessons — and in walking beside our students, they help bridge generations of learning. Their presence enriches our school community, offering a steady foundation of support and modelling integrity, kindness, and perseverance.

The morning concluded with a lovely morning tea in the Harbour View Rooms, generously hosted by our Year 6 Leaders. It was a fitting end to a meaningful celebration — a reminder of the lasting gifts grandparents bestow on their grandchildren: love, learning, and life-long inspiration.

Easter

We honour our Anglican heritage but also celebrate the diversity of faiths within our community. In the Christian Faith Easter is nearly upon us.  In honour our Anglican tradition, Kindergarten to Year 6 students walked to St Michael’s for our Easter Services.  Vice Captain Talia Golovsky shared a wonderful prayer she wrote herself

Dear God

Thank you for your protection, guidance and support through this term. Thank you for your assistance in our learning and letting us grow with friends. Please continue to protect and guide us through the holidays, let us rest and spend time with friends and family and ensure that we return a better version of ourselves.

In your name we pray,

Amen

We take this opportunity to wish our Kambala community a happy and holy Easter break and look forward to our students returning to Kambala on Tuesday 29 April 2025 in Winter Uniform.
