NAPLAN 2025 Success Story – A True Team Effort

This year’s NAPLAN testing period at Melton Secondary College marked our most successful yet, thanks to the outstanding efforts of staff and students across the entire school community.

Since the transition to digital NAPLAN four years ago, we’ve steadily refined our approach – and the results are clear. In 2025, we achieved a record-breaking 1,861 submitted tests across 78 test sessions, with an impressive 90.32% overall test submission rate – our highest to date!

This level of success didn’t happen by chance. It was the result of careful planning, dedication, and the incredible teamwork of multiple areas within the college, not to mention those Up&Go and Muesli bars for morning snack (thank you Carmel White).

The Administrative and Logistics team (Mel Russell, Meri Kimova, Jay Koeleman, Phillip Smith, IT and Maintenance Team), the key players – expertly coordinating logistics, scheduling sessions, managing spaces, and supporting students across all year levels. A special thank you goes to our IT team, who ensured devices were ready, systems ran smoothly, and any hiccups were swiftly resolved. Their technical support was essential in maintaining a calm and consistent testing environment.

We’d also like to acknowledge the support of the CLT (College Leadership Team) and ELT (Executive Leadership Team), whose guidance and oversight ensured a smooth and well-structured rollout from start to finish.

Our Inclusion & Intervention Teams and Community Mentors played a vital role in providing additional support for students, helping to create an inclusive and encouraging environment for all test-takers.

And of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work and flexibility of our teaching staff – not to mention the resilience and positive attitude of our students, who approached the assessments with focus and determination.

One particularly heart-warming moment came at the end of a long day of back-to-back sessions, when a group of year 9 students (MSC volleyball team) presented in Period 5 to complete their catch-up tests, knowing they wouldn’t get another chance, a perfect example of our school’s spirit.

This year’s NAPLAN experience truly highlighted what can be achieved when a whole school works together. A massive thank you and congratulations to everyone involved – we’ve set a new benchmark for success at our college!
