VCE-Vocational Major

VCE-VM Work Related Skills

So far in Year 12 VCE-VM Work Related Skills, we have been working on the OHS unit, making a healthy and enjoyable workplace. During this term we have been working on a school beautification project making the school look and feel better. We have participated in a Clean-up Australia Day along with the House leaders where we went around the school in small groups picking up as much rubbish as possible, trying to make a difference in our schools' environment. There is also an ongoing project of collecting and sorting 10c cans that has made around $400, that money goes back into the Environmental Club to be used on garden projects.

A few groups have been working on making vegetable patches for the garden to grow veggies for the cooking classes and to have life in our school gardens as well. Recently we have been cleaning up the memorial garden, trimming back the grasses, weeding, mulching, and making sure that it is neat and ready for Open day. This is helping us with learning about how to correctly use tools, OHS procedures and having the respect for the memorial garden itself.

These projects have been great opportunities to grow personally and professionally, as well as encouraging a sense of pride in us, we have been demonstrating many employability skills, like communication, teamwork, and initiative. Projects like these are amazing chances for us to practice and improve on these skills, as well as many other employability skills.
