Miss Mel's Message
Term 1, Week 9
Prayer for Hope
God of light and promise,
Thank You for the gift of each new day.
Fill our hearts with hope that lifts us,
joy that strengthens us,
and courage that carries us forward.
Help us to see the good in others,
the beauty in our world,
and the possibilities that lie ahead.
With You by our side, we walk with confidence and peace.
Catholic Education Week
This week we celebrated Catholic Education Week, a special time to reflect on the gift of faith and the role Catholic education plays in shaping compassionate, hopeful and engaged learners. The 2025 theme, “Inspired by Faith – Educating for the Future,” reminded us of our shared mission to live out Gospel values in all that we do.
Our Mini Vinnies team led the way, organising prayerful moments, lunchtime activities and acts of service that brought our community together. It was a wonderful week of connection, kindness and faith in action—showing the power of young people to lead with purpose and heart. One of these activities was creating positive affirmations to bring joy and happiness to our community, to be displayed in the learning street.
You would have no doubt seen our messages of HOPE displayed on the front fence. As part of Catholic Education week students reflected on this year’s Jubilee theme of what it means to be a “Pilgrim of Hope”. Staff and students alike shared their own hopes for themselves, their family and friends, their communities and the world around them on these giant letters. We invite you, our families and our community to also add your own hopes to this. Together we can be reminded when we share and support each other in achieving our hopes and dreams our world becomes a more positive and unified place. “Collectively, hope is strengthened through shared effort and action.” Junior BG went the extra mile to display these in their room as a reminder of the many important things they Hope to build in their lives throughout this year. Their Hopes were so inspiring and reflected deep thought for the people, animals and our world.
Our school leaders joined over 250 Catholic primary and secondary schools at St Patrick's Cathedral for Mass to celebrate Catholic Education week. Jesse was commissioned as our school's Jubilee Ambassador to help spread the Pilgrims of Hope message in our community. After Mass we headed down to the MACS creative arts exhibition to be blown away by the work of absolutely incredible young artists.
Jackie, Emma and School Captain Eleni then attended the MACS Creative Arts Exhibition Awards Ceremony on Sunday, 23rd March to accept the National Gallery of Victoria's Award for Creativity in the Primary School category, for our collective "Brigid's Cloak" art work.
Senior Camp
What a blessing it was to spend time with our Year 5/6 students and staff at Peninsula Outdoor Camp this week. From surfing and snorkelling to kayaking and sand-based team challenges, the experience was filled with fun, courage and connection. Camp offers so much more than adventure - it’s a chance for students to grow in independence, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories together. We are so proud of the way our students embraced every challenge with joy and resilience!
Phones and Smart Watches
This is a reminder that all students must hand in their phone and / or smart watch to the front office before the start of school or upon their arrival at school.
Communication to families during the school day is conducted by school staff. If a child needs to communicate to their family for a specific reason then staff contact home on their behalf. As smart watches become more popular as a means of communication we remind children that they are to be left at the front office during school hours.
