Vacancies - calls for parents
Class Parent Co-Ordinator
At the AGM the P&F outlined a change to the expectations of the class parent roles for next year. In order for the class parents to be well supported and successful in the role they are asked to deliver for the year we have also changed the focus of the class parent coordinator role and have introduced a second coordinator role to work with the P&F.
Catholic Schools Broken Bay Parent Representative This role represents our school at Diocese level and provides a means for parents to affiliate with the Diocesan Parent Council and have a voice at diocesan level and with Council of Catholic School Parents NSW. The diocesan parent council meets once a term.
If you are interested in either of these roles or would like to learn more please don’t be shy - reach out for a chat.
We will provide more details on the class parent roles, and call for nominations for 2024 Class Parents in next weeks newsletter.
THE 2023 COLOUR RUN IS JUST 2 WEEKS AWAY! We are soaring ahead with 135 profiles created and 64 students who have already started fundraising! So far we have raised $5,765 which is just short of 50% of our $12,000 fundraising target to support the school music program. Special shout outs to Salvatore (KG) and Jay (1G) who are leading the pack with their impressive fundraising efforts! Another special shout out to the Year 5 class who had the highest number of profiles created and will be rewarded with icy poles! With just 2 weeks left we would like everyone to get into the fundraising spirit! As a special reward, the class who raises the highest amount by next Friday will get a special class party. If you haven’t already done so, we need everyone to take a few actions to get the show on the road:
1. CREATE YOUR CHILD'S PROFILE FOR THE EVENT
Creating your child/ren's profile is straightforward. Simply head to our event partner's website and sign up following the prompts. If you have been at school for a colour run in the past the website should hopefully remember you. www.schoolfundraising.com.au
Your profile will be the gateway to all activity related to the event and allow you to start your fundraising. It also acts as a form of confirmation and permission for your child to participate on the day.
2. START YOUR FUNDRAISING JOURNEY
We know fundraising is different for every family so we will leave it to you as to how much or how little you are able to achieve. All funds raised at this event support the delivery of music programs as extra-curricular activities at school. In 2022, we raised just shy of $10,000 dollars, which helped us subsidise the costs for our school band, and we had live music programs at school for everyone to enjoy in Term 3 and early Term 4.
We want to continue to build on this year's accomplishments, and so we are aiming to achieve the same, if not better, in funds again in 2023. Our target has been set at $12,000!
Once your child's profile is set up you will have access to a link to share with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to ask for their support. It will take them straight to a JustGiving online donation page, where our donations are managed.
Here's a quick VIDEO to explain how it all works
Other things you might be wondering about...
What does my child need to run?
The Colour Run is BIGHT and MESSY! All products used are food grade and free from nasty chemicals or inclusions. Did we mention it's messy?! Get yourself a WHITE T-SHIRT, some old shorts and old runners for the day. Maybe opt for a cheap pair from Kmart? Oh and bring a towel/sheet for them to sit on in the car on the way home!! The mess is SOOO worth it!
Can I get involved?
YES!! We need a little army of parent helpers to ensure the day is a great success! SIGN UP HERE FOR ONE OF THE ROLES ON THE DAY: https://volunteersignup.org/ME9PL
What if my child doesn't want to be coloured?
No worries! We have a special non-colour lap factored into the day, and your child can still enjoy the fun of running through the course and opt to run through bubbles and/or water pistol alley! We will collect more details on these preferences closer to the day.
Is the course accessible?
YES!! With the opening of our new ramp and the upgrade of our lift we are so excited that our event can be even more inclusive this year! We have a special lap planned for any students with mobility issues. There will be a separate communication sent to those families to discuss what will work best closer to the date.
What are the prizes all about? It seems to be all my child talks about!
The partnership that the SchoolFunRun team brings to any school includes the distribution of fundraising prizes to the students. Your child can select a prize based on the amount of funds they raise. The more they raise the bigger the prize. We don't focus on this aspect of our fundraising, it's something that is simply part of our partnership with the SchoolFunRun. But we understand that for littler kids it might be all they think about.
One suggestion that's worked in prior years is to select a prize that can be donated to a children's charity as a Christmas present. We will share more details on this closer to the day.
Can I fundraise in cash?
Our strong preference is for all funds to be raised via the JustGiving portal that you can access through your child's profile. The partnership with the SchoolFunRun and JustGiving ensures that money can be collected in a safe way, and is managed efficiently for our treasurer.
