Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is celebrated in Australia each year on 11th November.  All Australians are encouraged to observe one minute of silence at 11.00am to remember those who have died. At school this week, we honoured all the Australians who have fought and suffered in war to protect our land and bring peace while we sang the National Anthem. We also reflected on the place of peace in our own hearts, families and communities. Jesus is our model for true peace and shows us how to be makers of peace.

Our prayers this week:

Lord, give us your lasting peace.

God of Peace and Freedom, we pray for all people, countries and nations of our world. May we turn away from war and learn your ways of peace.

Hear our prayer, God of Peace.

Lord, give us your lasting peace.

God of Peace and Freedom, we pray for all who have died serving their country in the name of peace and freedom.

Hear our prayer, God of Peace.

Lord, give us your lasting peace.

God of Peace and Freedom, we pray for the families and friends of those who have lost their lives while working for peace.

Hear our prayer, God of Peace.

Lord, give us your lasting peace.

God of Peace and Freedom, we pray for those whose lives are torn by war and violence.

Hear our prayer, God of Peace.

All: Lord, give us your lasting peace.

God of Peace and Freedom, we pray for ourselves as we yearn for peace in our own hearts, our own families, our school and our community.

Hear our prayer, God of Peace.

Lord, give us your lasting peace.

God of Freedom and Peace, hear our prayers for peace and help us work for peace as Jesus urges us.

We ask this in his name.

Amen.

The Ode

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning…

We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

At the rising and the setting of the sun, we will remember.

We will remember them.

Kind regards

Liana Stella
