CURRICULUM FOCUS

As we prepare for year one, we are reminding students that numbers must be formed correctly. They have a specific direction and place value that is important. 

31 is very different from 13!

VOCABULARY

Place value: a value given to a number based on its position in the ones, tens, hundreds column. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Put out some paper and have your children quickly write numbers 0-20 before dinner. Good mathematicians double check their work!

Call out different numbers and your child can write them down.

For children who need a challenge: ask your child to write a number using tens and ones e.g. 1 ten and 5 ones (15).
