INQUIRY: Connections

GAMES

During the second block of Inquiry rotations students will participate in a 3 week games unit. The games allow students to work together collaboratively, problem solve, learn about winning and losing and participate in some new and fun games.

Students will complete a 2 week round of BINGO which has been facilitated by Heather and Denise who play BINGO at our Parish Centre regularly. It has been great to learn how to play BINGO and celebrate the winners with our group.

Students will play some teacher run team games such as ‘Family Feud’ and ‘The Unfair Game’ to conclude the unit.

COOKING

During the second block of Inquiry rotations students will participate in a three week Cooking unit. Students will explore the significance of safety and hygiene practices in the kitchen. They will participate in hands-on cooking sessions with Michelle Acocks, Becky O’Sullivan and Dee Palmer, where they will have the opportunity to prepare a variety of recipes.

Students will demonstrate their collaborative skills by working cohesively with peers, sharing responsibilities, and taking turns in tasks such as cutting, dicing, and mixing a variety of ingredients. This experience will not only enrich their culinary knowledge but also deepen their understanding of the importance of food preparation and safety practices.

ARTS

During the second block of Inquiry rotations  students will participate in a 3 week Arts learning block with a focus on yoga and Drama. During the first week the students were very lucky to have Leanne Holmberg deliver a yoga session. Leanne taught the students a range of breathing and stretching exercises to help with relaxation and stress management.

ACTIVE

During the second block of Inquiry rotations students will participate in a 3 week Active learning block with Mr Ringin. The focus of these sessions is basketball. Students will be

presented with and given the opportunity to develop the basic skills eg dribbling, shooting and passing via individual and small group drills. Through modified activities students will be introduced to game activities which will allow for the introduction to the basic rules of basketball.
