BLITZ AND MATRIX FOCUS

Children will be introduced to a new Blitz this coming week.  It will be worked into routines and monitored in the yard and classroom.

This Blitz is NOT just for those who are playing a 'sport' game.  It is for anyone that is interacting with others.

Being fair to others can be difficult but this Blitz focus will strive to assist all students to build their capacity of knowing what it is to 'be a good sport' and how they can be the best version of this for themselves and their peers.

During week 7 and 8 our focus will move back to using the OUTSIDE SPACES in a SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE manner.

As the weather heats up, new behaviours can make their way into our yard and peoples tolerance levels can change throughout the breaks.

Staff will work with students to ensure they have understanding of how they can do their best while inside learning.

WORLD KINDNESS DAY

On Monday 13th November we celebrate World Kindness Day!

World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world.

If every person in our school performed just one act of kindness on World Kindness Day, we would have 125 acts of kindness in a single day...imagine if we could do more!  What a place our school would be!!!

Ideas and Simple Ways to be Kind

Being kind doesn’t need to look or be extravagant. Sometimes the simplest things make the most significant difference! Here are a few simple ideas and ways to be helpful on World Kindness Day with your loved ones.   Look for opportunities while you go through your day to infuse kindness into someone’s day. It’ll change their day and yours for the better!

  • Smile when you walk by others
  • Write positive messages on post-it notes and leave them for people to find
  • Call a relative you haven’t spoken to in a while
  • Tidy up around your house
  • Pick up rubbish you see on the ground outside and throw it in a garbage can
  • Hold the door open for someone
  • Pay it forward
  • Compliment someone
  • Send a positive or encouraging text to five people in your contacts
  • Surprise someone with flowers
  • Tell a family member or friend you love them
  • Send a kind card or note to a friend
  • Spend less time on your phone and more time with people you care about
  • Talk to someone new
  • Practice gratitude
  • Volunteer
  • Give someone a hug
  • You can make a pledge to be kind in all kinds of ways - make a commitment and post it at www.staykind.com.au

ATTENDANCE

You may have received a text message from school asking to clarify if your child is absent. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child(ren).

If you are travelling for an extended period we ask that you visit Maria in the office or send an email to mariaw@sjrochester.catholic.edu.au with absence dates.

Whilst we understand there will be unavoidable absences, we ask that you make the school aware of these by calling the office on 54841797 or logging the absence on PAM.

** Children who arrive after 9am are to enter via the office and sign in via PassTab to record the time of arrival.

** Parents of children who are being picked up during the school day are asked to enter the office to sign their child out. While children can use the PassTab iPad, we must see and speak to the parent/carer picking the child/children up.
