Announcing our Fair!

Save the date!

The Parents' & Friends' Association is excited to share with you that the Kinross Wolaroi School  Fair will be held on Saturday 9 March 2024 from 10am to 3pm. Please save the date for this special day - you will not want to miss it! The Fair will be the P&F's main fundraising event for 2024.

The Kinross Wolaroi School Fair is a beloved tradition that brings our school and community together for a day of fun, entertainment, and camaraderie. It's a time for our students, parents, teachers, and friends to connect, enjoy exciting activities, and indulge in delicious food and refreshing beverages.

Fundraising to preserve our heritage

The P&F Association has voted to make the restoration of Wolaroi Mansion a focus for fundraising at the Fair. The building is not just a vital part of the fabric of the school but is an important feature of the historical landscape of Orange itself and we hope that the whole Orange community will support us as we fundraise for its renovation. Work to upgrade the building will commence in 2025. The iconic Tower of the mansion has been closed off for more than five years for safety reasons and will be fully restored. Once complete, the building will house three new teaching areas, an expanded boarders' dining room, offices and meeting rooms. A lift and ramps will make it fully accessible. It will then take its rightful place as a showcase for the school and a reminder of our history.

All the fun of the fair!

We are planning an array of exciting attractions and activities for the Fair, including:

  • Delicious Food Stalls: Savor a variety of mouthwatering treats from local vendors and our talented school cooks.
  • Games and Rides: Thrill-seekers of all ages will find something to enjoy with our wide range of games and rides.
  • Entertainment: Enjoy live performances from our talented students
  • Marketplace: Shop for unique and handcrafted items from local businesses and our very own school community.
  • Raffle: Enter our exciting raffle with a chance to win fantastic prizes.

  • Join the Fair Committee! If you are a keen parent who is great at networking and making things happen, we would like you to be a part of the Fair Committee!

  • We will be in need of dedicated volunteers to help us run various aspects of the fair. If you would like to contribute your time, energy and enthusiasm, please let us know!

Donations please!

The Fair will be staged in Week 6 of Term 1, which doesn’t leave a lot of time for us to get organised when School returns in 2024, so there are items we’d love you to start thinking about and organising this Term in preparation for next year:

Plant stall donations – For all of our families with ‘green thumbs’ we need your help! Please start propagating herbs and plants from your garden! Pulling out a plant or hedge? Pot it up for the fair! Our plant stall will rely on your donations so please start ‘potting up’ as we’ll be asking you to drop off plant donations from early next year.

Book donations – we’re calling for donations for our secondhand book stall including kid’s books and novels, so don’t throw them out or give them away.

Recycled fashion and accessories – We’ll be looking for high quality branded items for a recycled fashion outlet at the fete. We are seeking to stock men’s, women’s and children’s fashion and accessories in excellent condition – maybe you can clean out your cupboard over the Christmas holidays!

Bric a brac – We’re seeking good quality used items in working order such as: children’s games and toys (NO soft toys), sporting equipment (tennis racquets, cricket bats and pads, etc.), homewares. Please NO large furniture, electrical items, bicycles or used bed linen.

Jams, pickles, preserves – in summer good produce is abundant and cheap so please support us by bottling your home made jams, pickles and preserves to sell at the fair!

Jar stall – the jar stall is a great option if you are not a cook. Save some jars and fill them with fun items for purchase: lollies, small collectible toys or cards, crayons, vouchers, stickers, socks, bath bombs, makeup – use your imagination! This stall was extremely popular at our last Fair.

Chocolate Wheel – A great option for disposing of any unwanted Christmas gifts! We are running a chocolate wheel at the fair and your donation of NEW goods such as gourmet foods, wines, homewares, electrical items, gift vouchers, etc. would be very gladly received.

Dropping off your donations

A drop off point and times for donations will be available towards the end of this term and over the Christmas break, as well as from Term 1. If you have any items you would like to drop off sooner, small items can be left at Reception and the Junior School Office. For larger items please email Harriet Alker on halker@kws.nsw.edu.au.

External Stalls

The Fair will welcome external stallholders at a small charge. If any of our community members are market retailers, or know of a market retailer who would like to attend the Fair, please let us know by contacting Harriet Alker on halker@kws.nsw.edu.au.

We're excited to come together as a community and make the 2024 Kinross Wolaroi School Fair a memorable event for everyone. Whether you can donate, volunteer, or simply join us on 9 March, your presence and support are greatly appreciated. Stay tuned for more updates and details about the fair in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for being a valued part of our Kinross Wolaroi School community, and here's to a fantastic Kinross Wolaroi School Fair in 2024!
