Wattle Group Term 4, 2023

Can you believe it's already Term 4?
It's incredible to think how quickly this year has gone! The wattle group have grown and learned so much and it's been a joy to witness their progress.
This term as the weather warms up, we've been taking full advantage of the sunshine by spending more time outside. The children have been hands-on in the sensory play outside engaging in water, sand, and mud play. They have been creating amazing volcanoes with water and pipes, cooking mud pies, and racing boats in the water tub. The children have also been taking care of baby dolls, giving them outdoor baths, and role playing out a range scenarios with them.
Our love for music and movement continues to grow. We've been dancing, singing, and incorporating songs that help with fine motor, gross motor, and cognitive development. Some of our favourites song lately have been 'One from the left', the 'dinosaur stomp' and 'Wadley Archer'.
One big achievement this term is the growth of our children's self-help skills. They've been managing their bags and taking better care of their belongings. It's wonderful to witness their growing independence and responsibility.
The children have shown a keen interest in drawing and have been experimenting with a variety of art mediums like watercolours, pastels, and paints. Their artistic skills are flourishing.
During the last term, the children's social play has evolved, becoming more intricate. They now engage in play within larger groups, displaying the beginnings of negotiation skills and emerging collaborative play abilities. The shift is evident as they transition from one-on-one play with peers to groups of 3 or 4, and sometimes even larger groups. The children are incorporating suggestions from others, successfully managing turn-taking, and independently sharing in their play with each other.
With the end of the year approaching, it's hard to believe that our end-of-year concert is just around the corner on Wednesday, the 13th of December. This is an exciting experience for the children and families. However, some children can find the event quite overwhelming. For those children, we aim to make the concert as relaxed as possible and keep it simple, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all the children. Therefore, we use the term "concert" very loosely; it's more of a chance for the children to share some of their favourite songs or stories with you.
It has been such as pleasure to teach wattle group this year and wish them all the best for next year in 4-year-old kinder.
Kind regards,
Emma.
