Banksia Group Term 4, 2023
Kirsty, Amy and Rex
Just like that we are in term 4, what a busy year! A big thank you for the lovely flowers we all received for Teachers Day, it was really appreciated.
Most schools have begun transitions and I encourage all children to attend where they can, as they are an important part of the transition and introduction to school
We have Brooke working with us until the 17th of November, and she has slotted straight into the group and has been doing group time and different activities with the children, including some cooking. The children have been working together exploring and making volcanoes in the sandpit.
We continue to work on a few projects this term, including a class colouring book with each of the children contributing a design for the book, then each of the children will have a copy of the book to keep once it’s all finished.
We are going to introduce some simple coding, using Beebots with the children. We are also continuing with our buddy time, with a focus on working together, bingo games with numbers and letters.
We don’t over emphasis school talk at kinder, as we know children can find it overwhelming and we let them lead the conversations. We continue to encourage and support independence and those skills needed for being at school. Such as; packing their own bag, managing their lunch box and belongings, asking for help, listening, and following instructions, and working collaboratively with others, being kind and fair to others.
Banksia Concert: 2.30pm, Dec 6th (Wednesday).
We usually do a simple type of play / and maybe a song. We will be starting at starting at 2.35pm sharp. We usually work what we are doing with the children with no pressure to participate. We ask a maximum of 3 people per family.
Friday 15th December - Last session.
We usually ask people to bring a plate to share (we put up a notice / sheet or a google doc for everyone to share what they are bringing so we don’t end up with all the same things!) >> Stay tuned for more information.
While the weather feels quite hit and miss, we are back into the period of the year for sunscreen as the UV is above 3. So, we ask the children to come into kinder wearing sunscreen as then it fosters a smooth and easy drop off, as we go straight outside. It is one less thing for children to do on arrival which can be helpful if children are unsettled on arrival.
Lastly please have a quick check in your child’s bag, to make sure they have spare clothing that is weather appropriate and still fits as they all seemed to have grown lately!
Big thanks,
Kirsty, Rex, and Amy
