Known and Loved

During the recent Term holidays, six of our junior students attended Camp La Salle.  This is an opportunity for students to experience the charism of St John Baptist de La Salle through interactions with other young people from Melbourne’s Lasallian inspired schools as well as Leaders in the Lasallian Mission Team.  Additionally, Lasallian Youth Ministers, including Jess Edwards, our Lasallian Youth Minister, accompany the students as they enter into varied activities.  It was a wonderful opportunity for our young people to be away, enjoy their environment and to dig a little deeper into the ideals of De La Salle and their implications for our way of life today.

The students who attend are:  Nyawichar Machar CO3, Shaneisha Chellapen DE3, Kiannah Haggett DE3, Tiara Sok LE2, Murray Congrues MO1 and Srishakthi Aravindan PH3.

Following is a reflection written by Nyawichar Machar concerning her experience:

I really enjoyed the camp! It was such an incredible and fun experience. Every moment was never dull but instead full of joy, and I was super glad I got the opportunity to be a part of it. Creating new friendships and memories that I will cherish. The countless number of mind-boggling games we played had my head turning and the team activities were super exhilarating. Though competitive, everyone managed to get a laugh out of the trivia, capture the flag, soccer, pool and so much more! I have much gratitude for the chance I got, to come along on this adventure, and it is one I would definitely do again. I thank the staff and teachers there who played an immense role in making the camp happen. Honestly, it was the complete opposite of what I expected, which was a boring camp that would just be a waste of my holidays. Though it now happens to be the absolute highlight. 

Let’s keep the current Year 12 Students in our prayers, hearts and minds as they begin the preparation period for their final exams.

All-powerful God, send your Holy Spirit upon them

To be their helper and guide.

Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding,

The spirit of right judgment and courage,

The spirit of knowledge and reverence.

Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
