We hold our Year 12 students and their families firmly in our prayers and in our thoughts and we wrap them with lots of love as they prepare to graduate from St John’s. We thank the Class of 2023 for the small acts that have had a big impact on our community over the past six years. The time in the lead up to Unit 3&4 examinations is an opportunity for students to dig deep as they near the finish line. We encourage all students to give of their best and to work hard until the very end. We will be thinking of you and praying for you in the weeks ahead. Go well!
During the official SWOT VAC period students will be encouraged to come into school to study using the CLC as a space to work independently and collaboratively. Students are asked to be respectful of ongoing learning and are asked to not distract classes that continue during this time. Students are able to use this time to work with teachers to receive guided feedback, revision strategies and to clarify and reiterate content. Where possible students are asked to make times with their teacher at times that correspond to when their classes were scheduled to run. Meetings with teachers can take place face to face or over Microsoft Teams. When on campus students must be in full school uniform.
Year 11 students in a Unit 3/4 subject will continue going to timetabled classes. They may spend the day before their Year 12 examination at home studying if they wish, however, a guardian must call the College to confirm this choice has been made.
As a College, we recognise the importance of examinations and the skills that students develop through purposeful study and application, and that these are a vital component of their development in the senior secondary years. Students are also regularly provided with feedback of their learning through a variety of different assessment tasks and examination results add another component of effective feedback for students and parents. The Semester 2 examinations are an opportunity to consolidate learning from subjects and action skills, knowledge and understanding taught throughout the year.
Year 7-9 Examinations will be conducted from 9 - 10 November.
Year 7-9 students will be required to attend all timetabled classes and scheduled examinations.
Year 10-11 Examinations will be conducted from 13 - 17 November.
Year 10-11 students will be required to attend all examinations in full school uniform. Timetabled classes will be suspended for the duration of the examination period to allow time for revision. The CLC will remain open for students throughout the school day for individual and small group-based revision. Students are asked to be punctual for all their examinations.
The examination schedule for Years 7-11 is below.
A comprehensive timetable with timing will be released to students in the coming weeks.
