Principal's News

Courage, Faith, Love

Dear Parents and Friends of St Agatha's Primary School,

Family is a beautiful gift from God, and grandparents are an extra-special blessing in our families. They bring with them wisdom, love, and stories from a time long ago. Last week we celebrated Grandparents' Day with the Year Two level presenting a heart warming prayer celebration.

Grandparents hold a unique place in our hearts. They are like a bridge to the past, sharing stories about your parents when they were young and teaching you about the good old days.

Here are some reasons why grandparents are so special:

  • Wisdom: Grandparents have a lot of life experience, and they can offer us valuable advice and guidance.
  • Love: They love us unconditionally and spoil us with their affection and care.
  • Stories: Grandparents have amazing stories to tell. Listening to their tales can be like traveling back in time!
  • Traditions: They help pass down family traditions and values, which make our family stronger.

Thank you to all involved who helped to organise this very special day.

News from the Parish

Father Joseph informed us recently that he has been transferred as Parish Priest to St Mary's Bairnsdale from January 2024. We are all devestated by this news. Father Joseph is an incredible and inspiring faith leader for the St Agatha's Community. Over the past ten years our Parish has grown in strength and faith and we will be forever grateful!

I know there will be plenty of opportunity to thank Father Joseph and wish him well in the coming months. We pray for Father Joseph and ask our heavenly Father to guide him on his journey.

Staffing News

A few weeks ago I announced that Mr Liam Doherty had successfully been appointed the Catholic Identity and Religious Education consultant for DOSCEL and as such will leave St Agatha's at the end of this year.

I can also announce that Mr Andrew Butler will also leave St Agatha's School to take up the position of Deputy Principal at St Kevin's School in Hampton Park. This is an exciting opportunity for Andrew. I wish him all the best as he prepares for this transition. St Kevin's is very lucky to have such a wonderful educator.

In further news, Cassandra Schalks will be transferring to St Thomas the Apostle in Clyde North. Cass has been at St Agatha's for many years and this is a wonderful opportunity for Cass to gain experience in a different setting. I know she will be greatly missed by staff, students and families alike! Gillian Burke will transfer from St Thomas the Apostle to St Agatha's. I look forward to welcoming Gillian to the St Agatha's Team.

Tomorrow is Stacey Echazar's last day. Stacey has worked at St Agatha's as a Learning Support Officer for the past four years. Stacey has worked tirelessly with many of our students and helped them both socially and academically. She will also be sadly missed. Stacey is going on to another job outside of the education industry as a community support worker.

There will be more announcements in the coming weeks as we are currently advertising for a Deputy Principal position and classroom teachers.
