Music Recitals
String Recital
In Week 5, the Black Box Theatre was filled with the family members and friends of over 70 string students from Years 3 to 12 who were performing violin, viola, cello and double bass across two nights.
For many students, this was a first performance opportunity. However, students had been preparing for these performances throughout the year, including two students who began their string lessons at the beginning of Term 4.
The evenings were filled with well-prepared, enthusiastic and exciting instrumental solos, duets, trios and original compositions. A highlight was seeing all the students support one another, especially helping those who were feeling a little nervous.
All students are congratulated on their hard work and excellent performances. Thank you to our wonderful string teachers, and the families and friends who attended and supported the performers.
Piano Recital
Playing the piano is a journey. As with any journey, it has a beginning and it consists of many different and varied stages. Over 100 students from Prep to Year 12 performed at the recent Piano Recitals. Some students who performed started their journey this year, other students have been playing for many years. For the Year 12 students, it was their final solo piano performance at Girton. Pieces played by the performers took the audience on a journey to different eras, events and seasons.
We acknowledge the support and encouragement parents provide to their children who learn piano at Girton. It is a privilege to guide students on their piano journey.
