Vale Beryl Adcock (nee McHugh), 1947

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mrs Beryl Adcock (previously Raggatt), nee McHugh, on 1 November. Beryl holds a special place in our hearts as one of the oldest members of the Old Girtonians' Association. Her contributions and presence within our association were truly treasured. Many of us fondly remember her inspiring speech at the OGA 100 Anniversary reunion, where her daughter Sally Ann was serving on the committee.

Beryl's connection with the School dates back to her time as a boarder during the war, when her parents were employed in the ammunitions factory in Melbourne. Her love for Girton flourished during those days, and it was at All Saints Cathedral on Sundays where she met and fell in love with her husband, who happened to be an altar boy. As fate would have it, his twin sister Gwen Raggatt also attended Girton.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Beryl's daughters Sally Ann, Louise and Fiona, as well as her husband Geoff Adcock during this difficult time. We also extend our condolences to her grandchildren Damien Raggatt, Nathan Johnson, Jacqueline Johnson, Xavier Johnson and Meredith Johnson, all of whom are also Old Girtonians.

We pay tribute to Beryl and her invaluable contributions to our community. Her memory will forever be etched within the hearts of all Old Girtonians.
