Nesting Boxes

On Wednesday, the Year 4/5/6 spent an industrious afternoon constructing nesting boxes at the Cavendish Men's Shed. Working in groups of 3, the children were in charge of laying glue along the edges of the pre-cut timber pieces before using the drill to screw each section together. The saying, "Many hands make light work" came true and in a suprisingly short period of time 18 nesting boxes were ready to go.  The final stage was brushing on a layer of linseed oil to protect the timber. The concrete outside the shed managed to get a good covering of oil too!

The volunteers at the Men's Shed were very impressed with the skills and efforts of the Cavendish students.

The next step for the nesting boxes program is to identify suitable trees within the school and surrounds to install the boxes and place the wildlife cameras.

We will be looking for a tall ladder and capable adults to assist with the installation. Please contact the school if you can help.
