Years F-1

This week in maths we have been learning about tally marks and later in the week we have been looking at comparing the mass of different items. The students used hefting to decide which item was heavier or lighter. They placed all of their heavier items on their tables. Once they had done that with a few objects, they had to put the items on their tables in order from heaviest to lightest. They did an amazing job and had lots of fun doing it!

In reading we have been looking at using different words to describe the characters. The students have had to think of descriptive words that are not always used in the book. They have used some great words to describe different characters. We read the book 'The Bad Seed' and students had to write words to describe him and draw a picture. They all took their time and put in great effort thinking of some fantastic describing words!

In humanities this week we had a look at how things have changed overtime in relation to natural and built-features. We had to pick a place in Cavendish that might not look the same in the future. The students pick the Cavendish Football Oval and they had to decide what they thought would change about it in the future. Most of them were leaning towards Cavendish getting a swimming pool with a water slide. The had to design what the pool might look like and where it might be placed at the footy oval. It was such a fun and exciting activity and the kids loved tapping into their creativity.
