This week's notes

Dear families and friends,

Congratulations James, Rachel and Charlie

Last Friday Mrs Huf welcomed a new baby boy into their family.  His name is Max Theodore and he weighed a healthy 9.9lb. Congratulations to you all, may Max bring you lots of fun, love and happiness.  We can't wait to meet him!

Dis-Glo

According to the students the Dis-Glo was a huge success.  Thank you Parents Club!

Check out a few photos later in the newsletter.

Melbourne Cup Holiday

Just a reminder that next Tuesday 7th November is the Melbourne Cup holiday. School will not be open. We will be back to normal classes on Wednesday.

School will be open and running classes as normal on Monday 6th November.

Fleece and Flower - Mystery Jars

The Fleece and FlowerShow is next Friday 10th November. The Year 4/5/6 class will be running a stall with games for children. We ask if each family can provide 1 or 2 wrapped Mystery Jars that we can sell for $3.00 each.

Jars can be delivered to school from Wednesday next week.

Mystery Jars are jars filled with goodies, wrapped in wrapping paper to conceal the contents. Each jar is given a number, if you select number 21 you get Jar 21.

Thank you for your help.

Wildlife nesting boxes

The Years 4-6 attended the Cavendish Men's Shed on Wednesday to construct some nesting boxes.  These will be placed around the school grounds and throughout the township.  Flat pack kits will also be available for purchase at the Redgum Festival next year. A big thank you to Lisa McIntyre and the Men's shed for the time and effort they have spent getting this organised.

End of Year Assessment

Over the next 2 weeks teaching staff will be conducting end of year assessments. These are an essential tool in determining student progress throughout the year. It is important that student absences are kept to a minimum so testing is not disrupted. Your support is appreciated. Thank you.

Casual Clothes Day

This Monday 6th November, the Junior School Council are having a Casual Clothes Day.

If you wish to wear casual clothes you will need to make a gold coin donation.

Monies raised will go towards buying a gift from the World Vision Christmas Gift Catalogue. These gifts may provide a life changing item for needy communities eg. seed bank, chickens, pigs, a teacher, fresh water, goats etc.

The JSC have a couple of other fund raising ideas for the term to help build funds. Stay tuned!

Staffing Changes

Ms Ferrier has advised that she will not be returning to school in 2023.

Mrs Bell and Miss McLeod will be teaching the Yr 5/6 class: Mrs Bell on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and Miss McLeod on Wednesday and Friday. Whilst not an ideal situation we are lucky to be able to provide quality teachers who are familiar to the students.

Mrs G will continue to do the Tutoring and Wellbeing roles.

Swimming Program

Due to us receiving some funding this year there will be no cost to families for our Swimming Program.  I am sure that this will be a great financial relief to families.  Tammy has put on a permission note on uEducateUs today if you could please logon and consent to your child being transported by bus and participating in the program.

Fleece & Flower Show

Hopefully families are getting organised for the Fleece & Flower Show and have their entries into Kay Edwards.  The Cavendish Community love seeing the children's work and artistic abilities, so please try and enter some of the categories.

Uniform Orders

2024 Uniform Order forms have been handed out.  If you are requiring any uniform for next year please return the order by Friday 17th November so Callie Leese can put in an order if required.  If you did not get an order form you can collect one from the table in the office.

Gwyn's Halloween Colouring Competition

Winners of the Halloween colouring competition were Emma, Rocco, Indi, Mietta and Ava.  What a great initiative Gwyn. Well done.

Tuesday 7th November -  small working bee

We would really appreciate it if some parents could find time on Tuesday to help concrete in the new goal posts and put up the Year 6 totem poles.  Please give Simon Thomas a call if you can help.  Starting at 10:00am, 'Many hands make light work!'

Thank you

Thank you for Rick and Marni Luhrs for donating a big bale of straw for the Environment Centre. Much appreciated.

Paper Truck loading

Thanks to Darcy and Jack who helped the Cavendish Lions Club load papers Sunday week ago.

Have a great weekend
