Principal's Report

Tim Bernau | Acting Principal

Welcome to our latest newsletter as November comes to a close. We're heading into a busy last month filled with several key events, including the Transition, Community Picnic, Graduation and more!

Transition

Next week is a big one for our 2024 Foundation students. They will have their final transition session, where they will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and classmates for the upcoming year. During this time, we will be holding an information session for future Foundation parents in the BER to provide some valuable insights about the year ahead and address any questions. Additionally, in Week 10, students across the school will participate in two transition sessions involving team/community building activities to familiarise themselves with the routines, expectations of the new environment. Students will then meet their teacher and 2024 classmates at the third and final whole school transition session on Tuesday 12th December.

Community Picnic

We are set to host our annual community picnic on Wednesday 6th December, a time to come together and celebrate the fast approaching festive season. Bring along a picnic rug and some food to enjoy on the oval, whilst our students perform a range of songs with a festive theme. Upon arrival children will need to check in with their classroom teacher AND then return to sit with their families during the performances (until they are called up to wait in the ‘wings’ for their performance

STEM Conference

A highlight from last week was our participation in the 'It Takes a Spark STEM Conference' at John Paul College. Mrs. Nestor and 20 of our high achieving Year 4 students represented our school admirably, engaging in advanced learning in design, engineering, and technology. It was inspiring to see them work collaboratively on problem sovling challenges and get an insight into the various career paths and opportunities in these fields.

Mobile Phone Policy

I'd like to remind everyone of the Mobile Phone Policy for Victorian government school students. Students can bring mobile phones to school, but they must be turned off and stored securely at the front office during school hours. If parents need to reach their children for emergencies, they can do so through the school’s administration office.

Pupil free day

Next Friday, December 1st, is a Pupil Free Day. This is a Professional Practice Day (PPD) for our teaching staff which is an element of the Victorian Government Schools Agreement. PPDs provide teachers with release from their scheduled duties to focus on the improved delivery of high quality teaching and learning.

Have a great couple of weeks!

Warm regards,

Tim
