Foundation and Year 1/2

  Sacred Heart's Greatest Show

Poem by Foundation and Year 1/2

The lights were colourful and bright

We couldn’t wait for the big night!

As the people were being greeted,

And parents were getting seated,

The excitement continued to grow

As we waited for The Greatest Show!

The choir sang the first song,

Starting the night off strong!

Following the choir came the circus act,

Everyone was great, that’s a fact.

Juggling, devil sticks, ribbons and clowns

There definitely weren’t any frowns!

Spinning plates, balloon girl and cartwheel loops,

With even some Grade 2 and 3s spinning hula hoops!

The energy was buzzing behind the curtain,

The Foundation and Grade 1s couldn’t wait to get on stage, that was certain.

We danced to the song ‘Everywhere’s a Dance Floor’,

The audience yelled out for more!

The magic disco ball was in the sky,

Shining brightly up high.

Here are our favourite disco moves,

Stand up and get into the groove!

The Grade 3/4s came next with ‘Count on Me’,

Xylophones, cups, buckets and ukuleles we could see.

Hand percussion to the beat,

They couldn’t keep us in our seat!

They were smiling from ear to ear,

It was a great sound we could hear.

The Grade 5/6s had everyone dancing along,

We loved their act even though it was long.

Michael Jackson, The Village People and the Backstreet Boys,

All made a brilliant noise.

It was a wonderful scene,

If you were there you would know what we mean.

The show was about to end,

But not before a final performance from our friends!

The 5/6s started with some body percussion,

What an addition to our amazing production!

The Grade 2s and 3s had another chance to show off their circus skills,

As they came down the aisles, giving their audience chills.

Foundation and Year 1 came on waving their scarves,

Their smiles, not in halves.

Everyone gave it their greatest go,

So we hope you enjoyed Sacred Heart’s Greatest Show!!

Year 3/4

Sacred Heart's Greatest Show

Education is BORING!!! 🏫  By Isabella

“We don’t need no education…” Suddenly everyone, well, the grade 5/6s and the grade 3/4s were singing ‘Another Brick in the wall’ by Pink Floyd. Turns out the grade 6 boys wanted to be in a famous boy band. They proved that they could be good by singing ‘I want it that way!’ Well do you know who’s the best at dancing? Michael Jackson is the one! Wait, how did he get to Thornbury Theatre? The act was so entertaining! I enjoyed it alot! The 5/6s must have had a million butterflies in their stomachs! However, I enjoyed it and I’m sure that the crowd did too!

Sacred Heart’s Concert. By Nirav

As I stepped up on the rises for our first act, I was filled with excitement but also with a little pinch of nervousness. But after a while of good singing and smiling, all went well for the first act. Then, when it was time for the grand finale, I stepped onto the rises ready for the last time performing the finale, it was time to put everything into action! As we were performing the spotlights were going berserk all over the place and they were totally blinding me! But nevertheless, it was ‘AWESOME!’.

School Concert.  By Massie

When it was the Year ¾ ‘Count on me’ act , I was anxious and excited. I warmed up my hands and tried to make my hands as dry as possible so the drumming sticks wouldn't fall out of them. When the music started I drummed, I have been trying my best to memorise the pattern and I got it right.

2 minutes later

Oh no no no no I am about to sneeze in front of  200 people and it's gonna be embarrassing. Then I calmed down and I thought of my favourite things and  it calmed me down and I did not sneeze and by then the performance was done.

The Dance!  By Roman

The spotlight was on us, we were about to dance to “Can’t stop the feeling”, we all took a deep breath before the song. In a second the music was on, we were all amazing, we had smiles as big as our faces and when we danced we blew the crowd away. Everyone was astonished. “Whoo hoo” went the crowd. They all loved it. I felt so proud of myself. At the end of our song we all wanted to do it again.

The Greatest Show! By Katelin H

Arh! It's so nerve wracking as butterflies started fluttering around in my stomach and  I began to regret wanting to do it.  As it was nearly time for the show to start, I was SUPER nervous because I was one of the first to perform on stage. I took a deep breath,”whoo,” I was ready to perform. Then the lights went on and shone in my direction, I went on stage with the other comperes and I began to say my part. All the parents were looking at me, some smiling, specifically my mum and dad, it made it even harder than before. I felt sick, but still I did it! With a bright smile on my face but a humongous shiver down my spine.

After I was done and got off, I was bursting with pride at myself and confident to go on with all the other acts. I then thought if I did it then I can do it now! I wasn’t that nervous anymore. I danced with confidence and with all my friends. I then had a whole lot of fun doing it. Now I believe we all can agree that it was truly and wonderfully the GREATEST SHOW EVER!!!

The Greatest Show.  By Callix

Bursting with excitement I came on stage to perform and it was unforgettable. The lights shone everywhere I looked. It was spectacular! I knew this might be the last time that I do this so I tried super hard to perfect it and it was done. Now this is what I truly call the legendary GREATEST SHOW!  This was wonderful.

CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!  By Gail

Clap, clap, clap. The other grade was done and now it was our turn! As we were walking up the stairs, I felt like a thousand butterflies were in my tummy! The lights were all on us then the music started “I got this feeling inside my bones It goes electric, wavy when I turn it on!” Soon it was all done and I wasn't feeling nervous anymore and I wanted to do it again. I think the  audience loved it and we had the best time!

The Greatest Show!  By Brenton

I was so excited when the day came because we had practiced so much! The concert turned out to be awesome because everyone was happy and they performed amazingly just like it was the greatest show! Wait a minute… it looked like a circus because of the clowny act by the Year 2/3s! “Roar-or-or…” that is some AWESOME roaring! Man, the 2/3s are amazing!

Sacred Hearts Greatest Show!  By Azariah

Wednesday 1st of November was Sacred Hearts time to shine, it was Sacred Hearts greatest performance. Everyone in the school got to perform their breathtaking act. It was the most amazing performance.

‘Good morning ⅚! Good morning Marty! Time for writing. Ugh! Math? Ugh! Wellbeing? Ugh! “WE DON'T NEED NO EDUCATION” my brother shouted then the song started. 🎵We don't need no education 🎵.

2023 Sacred Heart School Concert.  By Jasmine

U are my fireeee!!!!!! Some grade 5/6 boys started to dance and sing. Right when the music started everyone in the crowd knew the song right away. The rest of the grade 5/ 6s in the background started to dance and sing too. Mm mm mm mm played the song Billie Jeans from Michael Jackson. When it started we surprisingly saw Ethan as Michael Jackson, but not really surprising because Ethan is perfect as Michael Jackson his moonwalk, moves and especially his looks were spot on. Michael and Fortunato also were part of the act, coming out from the sides.’’ She told me she was more like the Billie Jean from a movie scene’’. Before we all knew it, the concert had finished and everyone was so proud of us, we did an awesome job!!!!

Sacred Heart’s Greatest Show.  By Lauren

OMG, that day was Sacred Heart’s Greatest Show. I was not a scaredy cat (like grimace was when he made a drink and everyone threw up). As we were performing, I had a great time. After that I sang this song :

Never gonna give you up

Never gonna let you down

Never gonna run around and desert you

Never gonna make you cry

Never gonna say goodbye

Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

The Greatest Show! By Tiffany

Lights were all over the place, it was finally our turn to go on stage. All of a sudden the music went on and it was sooo loud. I was so excited and nervous. Then we started dancing and singing ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’. I was delighted at how good the performance was. Everyone cheered and clapped for us.

Then we needed to get ready for our next act. There was not enough room on the stage so we set up on the risers next to the stage. IT WAS THE BEST DAY EVER!

Count On Me!  By Allie Tran

“You can count on me like 123, I’ll be there” Everything felt fantastic as the awesome Year 3/4s were singing and playing the ukulele, drums, cups and xylophones. Brenton was the one that led the performance, we followed and we were all “STUNNING”! At first, everyone was super nervous but after the performance we just wanted to do it again because we knew we had done an AWESOME performance!!

Sacred Heart’s Greatest Show!  By Sai

On November 1 st, Sacred Heart had their concert. There were a lot of people and parents, everybody in every class was dancing and cheering. The best part was the 3/4 and 5/6 because they had some good songs and instruments. But the grand finale's greatest show was so much better because there was everybody dancing and more moves.

Greatest Show!  By Veer

“THIS IS THE GREATEST SHOWWWW!!!”  Was what I heard just before the whole crowd went wild. I felt relieved and sad at the same time, I was relieved because all this hard work paid off. And sad because the night was over. I am really proud of myself, this night was fantastic!!!

Choir.  By Stephanie Tran

I was so nervous of the crowd, I almost fainted! We were introduced to shine your way. We sang so beautifully as it was a catchy song. People started bobbing their heads to the beat! I had this connection with the song like I was shining my way for real! After the performance the choir bowed. I felt amazing.

Count on me!  By Kaitlyn

Suddenly, I heard lots of musical notes coming together! Lots of my classmates were nervous on the stage but I was enjoying the moment. Since Jasmine and I, and some other people were making beats with the cups, I had to count in my brain. I had to count each beat, (1, 2, 3, 4 go!). My partner (Jasmine) was enjoying every single bit of the song. I eventually had to get up from sitting down on the floor and walk behind some of my classmates, screech! At this point of time I felt a little scared, and my brain was like, what if you make a mistake? But I kept going. The song ended and I was smiling. Do you like Count on me?

Year 5/6

I know we all loved it, but what did the performers think about The Greatest Show?

Amelia - I enjoyed the performance because it was an event where I could socialize with people, help everyone with their acts and host the performance as a compere.

Yash - I definitely enjoyed the performance because everyone was on time and we couldn’t stop smiling. I felt super proud of myself for doing something I had no idea of and now have a clear understanding of doing it. My favorite part of the performance was the YMCA because I was one the Village People.

Yianna - I loved the performance a lot. It was very fun to do. Working with each other was very fun and when my family saw it they were so proud. When I was dressing up for the Greek dance I felt very nervous because I thought that I was not going to put the dress in time but I did it I put  it in time!

Onella - I learnt that practice makes perfect. During the performance everyone was a laughing stock. I really enjoyed it. The audience was surprised and happy. That was the best day of my life.

Ishe - I wasn’t nervous at all in “Feel it still” but I was nervous for “A day in the life” because I had a line that I had to say. “We don’t need no education!” Once it was my time I yelled it out and for some reason I wasn’t nervous at all when saying that line. I was surprised and happy. I really enjoyed the performance.

Jemimah - I absolutely enjoyed the performance so much because everyone was having a good time. I really loved the energy the audience gave and how the performance went very well. That was the best moment of my life.

Connor -  I really enjoyed the performance because everyone tried really hard practicing and everyone had a good time practicing and at the performance.

Zane - The performance was a great experience and I really enjoyed it. I loved being a Backstreet Boy and I think we all had a great time.

Enock - One thing I like about myself is how I expressed my feelings while dancing. When I was rewatching myself I saw how effective I was with the whole “I want it that way” attitude. Overall if I continue like this it will make it exciting and fun for me and for others.

Keefe - When we began “A Day in the Life” I could hear my heart pumping very loudly and powerfully but as the performance continued, my nervousness transformed slowly into happiness.

Roery -  I played the eel-lectric guitar to the EXTREME!

Ethan -  I liked when all my friends went as Backstreet boys. It was also fun being Michael Jackson for a minute again.

Michael - I love the performance because I had a lot of fun dancing.

Harper - The teamwork that we had was really amazing and I'm pretty sure that everyone had a great time while performing.

Alex - I really like the way we all worked together ~ it was phenomenal. I also really liked it how we were all having a ball and we put so much effort into the performance

Hansvi - I was really excited to perform on stage and I think that it was the most special night of my life yet!  We worked very hard and I think it paid off and because of that I had so much fun that I wish that I could do it again.

Chen - I learned that it's better to try and not think about what's happening outside and and enjoy yourself on the stage.

Fortunato - I was so excited and I think everyone was nervous and I was too but when I got on the stage I felt no longer nervous. I was happy and even more excited. I had the best time of my life with my whole class and my Dad and my Brother watching me on stage.

Jacob - I enjoyed the performance because the performance was good but I was very nervous and I felt like I was going to forget the moves but in the end it was sooooo fun.

Jaxon - I enjoyed the performance because we worked so so hard on it and it was really really fun and I'm happy to say it most definitely paid off.

Izaac - I think doing things with other people is important because it develops social skills which might be crucial later in life and you might make something amazing

Rahim - The performance was great and everyone did great in it. I wish I had done just a little bit more to make it better.

Glendon - The Greatest Show performance was at least my 5th-9th time on stage. So I was fine. I just needed to smile more often.

Bhavin - The performance was absolutely stunning and also everybody did great (shoutout to Marty he did great on the stage!)
