Welcome to Week 4 of term 4! We have been busy bees in the Grade 1/ 2BH area!

It has been pleasing to see the children’s progress as they continue the Sounds-Write program during our morning Literacy block. The children have been very engaged in reading, spelling & writing which is always wonderful to see.

Our mentor text focus for the first four weeks of term has been on Fairy Tales. The children have enjoyed studying ‘Snow White’, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff', ‘Jack and the Beanstalk' and ‘Hansel and Gretel’. The students have been focusing on elements of Fairy Tales and have completed some wonderful writing activities related to these well known stories.

During this term’s Maths lessons we have been investigating number patterns formed by skip-counting. In Week 5, the students will begin a new Maths topic which will be focusing on multiplication, division and fractions.

Throughout our RE classes, the students have been focusing on their gifts and talents and what makes them unique. They enjoyed listening to the lovely story called ‘We’re All Wonders’ by R.J Palacio. This story explores individuality and gifts that we each have. It also reminds us that we are all wonders.

During the next couple of weeks in Religion, the children will be learning about how they are part of God's family and also part of our school family. They will have the opportunity to  listen to the story ‘Our Class Is A Family’ by Shannon Olsen. This beautiful book talks about how the children’s classroom is a place where it’s safe to be themselves, it’s okay to make mistakes and it’s important to be a friend to others.

It has been pleasing to see so many of our students reading at home with their families & bringing their reader bags to school each day - thank you for your support in this area.

Have a great week,

Corena, Kate, Celia & Jenny
