Principal's Message

Dear Families,

We are all in full swing as we head into the busiest period of our school year. I can share with our community that we are on track with all that needs to occur before the end of the 2023 school year!

World Teachers’ Day Celebrations:

Last Thursday we had a beautiful celebration honouring the work of our fabulous teachers. Thank-you to all our students and families for acknowledging the tremendous efforts, care, and work of our teachers. Personally, I am grateful for our teachers, and I am constantly in awe of their dedication and positivity.

Camp – Year 6:

Our year 6 campers thoroughly enjoyed their time at Camp Summit. The report I received from our students and teachers was that the camp provided activities that supported leadership, confidence, resilience, and communication. Thank you to all our students who attended the camp and found joy in the activities and each other.

A HUGE thank you to all our teachers who attended the camp. Thank you to Mr. Bigger, Ms. Reese, Mr. Linton, Mrs. Beckenham. Thank you to Mrs Hooper who supported our students in her capacity as the First Aid officer on the camp. Thank you to our parent volunteer Louise Cherry.

Prep Enrolments and Prep Transitions:

Our prep transitions continue and our new 2024 prep students have been settling into their respective classes. Thank you to all our prep families for your support with these transitions.

Please see below for our remaining prep/foundation transition dates.

  • Thursday 9th November 9.00am – 10am – Meet the Teacher
  • Thursday 16th November 9.00am – 10am – Meet the Teacher and Meet Your Buddy

We continue to accept prep students and our numbers are slowly increasing.  If you have a child in pre school or a child that is turning 5 before 30th April, 2023 please phone our office for an enrolment form and an appointment with me so that I can meet with you and your child. I have thoroughly enjoyed our Meet and Greet chats with our 2024 prep students and their families. I can safely say that it has been one of my most joyous moments as a school leader.

Forward Planning and Grade Structures for 2024:

We have begun the process of forward planning and looking at grade structures, numbers and staffing for the 2024 school year. In doing so, I invite all parents/carers who know their child/children will NOT be returning to our school please phone our office on 9744-4566 and let us know please. This will assist us with plans for our grades and staffing profile.

A friendly reminder that all additional information that we may not be aware of that may affect your child's class placement next year needs to have been in writing and forwarded directly to my email address at katarina.cvitkovic@education.vic.gov.au with subject header ATTENTION KATHY by Friday November 3rd, TODAY. Please note that any emails that come through after the 3rd November date will not be considered due to the flow on effect that late changes will have on our process.

Please note that this is not a teacher/class selection process but an opportunity to provide us with information that may assist with your child's social and academic groupings. Please note that whilst all information will be carefully considered case by case, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be met.

A friendly reminder that classes will operate as normal on Monday 6th November.

I sincerely hope that all our families enjoy the public holiday on Tuesday 7th November, Melbourne Cup Day, and are refreshed and re-energised for the remainder of  week 6. I am sending my warmest wishes to all in our community.

Warmest Regards,

Kathy Cvitkovic
