 We have been exploring the properties of different materials, such as glass, ceramic, metal, wood, plastic and paper. After seeing what happens to these materials when water is added, this week we are using different materials to build houses. Which will prove the best?

Properties of materials: a quality of a material that we can describe, such as strength, stretch, hardness.

Choose some items around the home and discuss what they might be made of. Touch them, if safe. How could we describe them? Are they soft? Breakable? Waterproof? Heavy?
