Library Spaces

This summer, the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) experienced an increased number of students visiting during break times, and we've thoroughly enjoyed their presence. We have welcomed classes being held in the library space with new and returning staff at the helm. Students have engaged in various activities such as board and card games, online gaming, group, and solo study, and more. We're pleased with the respectful behaviour exhibited by students, demonstrating our school values of curiosity, community, and compassion.

Looking ahead, we're excited to open our space to have events and screenings of films, national and international sporting events, music and more. Students and staff are free to let us know if there's anything they would like during recess and lunch.

Literature For Students

The LRC is a haven for Heathmont students, offering a collection of both physical books and eBooks. From classic literature to contemporary bestsellers, the LRC provides access to boundless knowledge and entertainment at the swipe of a screen. With fiction titles spanning genres and eras, borrowing eBooks from the LRC nurtures a passion for reading, fosters critical thinking, and promotes cultural understanding in the digital age. Step into the virtual realm of the LRC, where each borrowed eBook promises an enriching journey and endless opportunities for growth and discovery.

Valentines Day

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) had a heartwarming celebration for Library Lovers' Day! ❤️📚 We hosted an engaging quiz and delighted participants with sweet treats. Students had a blast testing their knowledge on all things Valentine's – from ancient myths to iconic couples in movies and books, to heartwarming teen romance tales, and even exploring sweet treats and traditions from around the world! 🍬✨

Some students also gathered to enjoy the card game called "Love Letter." We made sure to spread the love by handing out heaps of treats to all who participated, and it was wonderful to see students learning and having fun together!

Dr Seuss' Wacky Socks Day

With birthday cheers, we gathered near,

To honour the author we held so dear.

Books abounded, oh what a sight,

Seussian tales did fill the night!

Students tested their wit, in a quiz of words,

Inspired by Seuss books, lines they had heard.

On paper or Compass, they sought to win,

A Graze Canteen voucher, a delightful spin!

But wait, there was more, to our delight,

Wacky Socks Day, oh what a sight!

Students and staff, in socks so wild,

Honouring Seuss and embracing their inner child.

Winners of the Dr Seuss Birthday Quiz are: Priyanshu Y Year 7, Jennifer B Year 9 and Brodie S Year 10.

International Womens' Day

Recently, our library and learning resource centre (LRC) dedicated a day to celebrate International Women's Day, an occasion to honour the achievements and contributions of women worldwide. As part of our commemoration, we had the privilege of engaging with the remarkable women within our school community. Through short interviews, these women graciously shared insights into their experiences, inspirations, and aspirations. Their stories serve as a testament to the diverse talents and perspectives that enrich our workplace and inspire us all. Join us as we celebrate the voices and accomplishments of the incredible women shaping our school environment.

You can find the stories of women in our school community in this edition of the Gazette.
