Message From Our

Principal

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

What an exciting week it has been at Sacred Heart, filled with engaging learning experiences despite the unpredictable weather conditions. Our students have been actively participating in a variety of rich learning tasks, from Guided Reading to specialist subjects like music, visual arts, and physical education. It's heartening to witness their enthusiasm as they eagerly share their daily learning adventures with me.

Uniform Reminder:

As we celebrate a week of vibrant learning, let's also take a moment to ensure we maintain the standards of our Sacred Heart School Uniform. Recently, we've noticed some instances of incorrect footwear being worn outside of sports days, as well as an increase in the wearing of jewelry. Incorrect jewelry poses a safety concern, and students will be kindly asked to remove such items and place them in their bags. Parents, please refer to the Sacred Heart Uniform Policy on our website for further clarification.

SAC Meeting Highlights:

This week marked the first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting of the year, where we welcomed new members Katelyn McIntyre, Lachlan Scott, and our Deputy Principal, Felicity Bryant. The meeting centred around strategies to enhance parent and community engagement through fundraising initiatives and social events for both students and parents. We are excited about building positive partnerships that benefit our school community. Another key agenda item was the replacement of the quadrangle shade sails, damaged in last year's storms. We anticipate the repairs to commence during the Term 2 school holidays, providing much-needed relief for our students and staff from the hot weather we are experiencing.

Crunch & Sip (Clean Fruit):

A friendly reminder about our Crunch and Sip program – parents are encouraged to provide their children with "clean" fruit such as apples, bananas, or celery sticks. This helps ensure an uninterrupted learning experience, as messy fruits like oranges can lead to unnecessary disruptions. Sending Crunch and Sip items in a separate container will further streamline the process, benefiting both students and teachers.

Sacramental Program Information Evening:

Last night, we hosted a Sacramental Program Evening for students who will be receiving the Reconciliation sacrament this term. A sincere thank you to the families who attended and supported the event. Special appreciation goes to Mr. Tony McDonald for his dedication and support in making the evening a success.

Opening School Mass

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the joyous commencement of the 2024 Academic School Year, which was marked by a beautiful Opening School Mass. Our students exhibited extreme reverence as they actively participated in the mass responses and contributed to the uplifting atmosphere with their wonderful singing. It was truly heartening to witness the spiritual engagement of our students, setting a positive tone for the academic year ahead. A heartfelt thank you to the families who joined us in celebrating this special occasion, reinforcing the sense of community and shared values that make Sacred Heart School a unique and cherished learning environment. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us each and everyday on our academic journey throughout the year.

As we conclude Week Four of Term 1, I want to wish our Sacred Heart families a relaxing and safe weekend ahead. Time truly flies when you're having fun, and we look forward to more exciting weeks of learning and growth together.

God bless,

Jamie McDowall
