MERCY FORMATION PROGRAM
On Wednesday 21 February, four students (Sarinna Chun, Fiona Maria Denny, Makayla Pel, and Juliet Moodley) attended the 2024 Mercy Formation Program at the central Melbourne ‘Mercy Hub’ that spanned two days.
The program was an initiative devised by Young Mercy Links Victoria, a group committed to social justice and Mercy in volunteering and education. Within the program, students enthusiastically collaborated with schools from Mercy Education and participated in leadership and reflection activities. This immersive experience was complemented with the opportunity to connect with young people passionately unanimous about continuing the transformative legacy of Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy in the realm of their colleges and eventually their wider community.
Subsequently, the program strengthened our understanding of the concept of ‘Mercy’ and encouraged the outward thinking for true innovation in terms of the social justice and spiritual continuity goals and aspirations beyond age. It was an experience that has developed our call for advocacy and 'watered the Seed of Justice'.
The memories and the ability to have an active involvement in the program were an absolute honour granted by the attending staff's dedication to the progression of Catherine McAuley’s and the Sisters of Mercy legacy.
