Principal's Report

Dear families,

WELCOME BBQ

Last night was a great opportunity for parents, students, and teacher to catch up in a more informal setting. We were blessed with perfect weather. A special thank you to staff and students for assisting with setting up and helping on the night. Andrew Watt did a wonderful job on the BBQ.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS

Parents and Friends Clubs play a crucial role in building a supportive school community by serving as a bridge between the school and parents. These clubs enhance parental involvement through regular meetings and events, providing insights into the curriculum and policies.

Additionally, they contribute significantly to the overall school environment by organising activities and fundraisers, strengthening the sense of community, and providing resources for extracurricular programs. The collaborative efforts between parents and the school administration, facilitated by the club, create a positive learning atmosphere for students. Moreover, these clubs foster connections among parents through social events and volunteer opportunities, offering a valuable support system, particularly for newcomers.

In summary, Parents and Friends Clubs are integral to a school community's success, fostering collaboration, communication, and active participation for the well-being of students and their families.

We strongly encourage parents to join our Parents and Friends Club. If this is something you are interested in please complete the expression of interest form on XUNO.

PARENT/STUDENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Families are encouraged to go onto XUNO and book your interview times. You will be able to do this from Friday morning. If you are having issues with XUNO please contact the school for support.

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF EDUCATION

As we reflect on this significant milestone, we are planning a Celebratory Community Event and also a Special Commemorative Feature to be published in the Shepparton News on April 12, 2024, and distributed via our Community Event on April 20, 2024. We would like to invite any business to be a part of this historic event.

The Commemorative Feature will be of a high standard, with first-class pictorial and editorial coverage showcasing the rich history, achievements, and contributions of Toolamba Primary School to the community over the past 150 years while also touching on the present and future plans.

If any families or business would like to participate it would not only be a meaningful contribution to our celebratory feature but would give you the opportunity to promote your business, products and services to an engaged audience of up to 20,000.

Advertisements range from $99 up to $2500. Examples of previous articles can be seen in the St George’s Road Commemorative Feature.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact Simone Dunne at the Shepparton News on 03 5820 3134.

ASSEMBLY/READING TIME

Commencing Monday 12th February, parents are welcome to come along and hear their child read prior to assembly at 2.40pm. Assembly will commence at 2.55pm. We have decided to start 5 minutes earlier to allow time for announcements and grades to share their learning.

OHSC

The Kelly Club have advised they will be ceasing their contract for both the Holiday Program and Before and After School Care. We understand this has been a difficult process and the inconvenience of last minute cancellations, like today, are extremely frustrating. We have started the process of transferring the licence back to the school. We will keep you updated.

COVID

Currently we have several positive cases of COVID in our school community. Please test your child if they are displaying symptoms and let the school know.

RUBBISH FREE LUNCHES

At Toolamba P.S., we encourage students to bring rubbish free lunches. On Monday at assembly there is a lucky draw for those students who bring “rubbish free lunches.”

URSTRONG PARENT/STUDENT INFORMATION SESSION

In 2023 we introduced the program across the whole school. Students in 2024 will participate in weekly lessons around URstrong. A vital component of the program is having parents being informed about the strategies being taught in the school. I strongly encourage you to attend this session.

Have  a lovely weekend,

Regards Heather
