Grade 2
We’re just over the halfway mark of Term 1 and things have been busy during weeks 5 and 6 in Grade 2. Here is an update on what has been going on in our wonderful Grade 2 classes...
Initialit:
Things have really been ramping up in Initialit. This has seen our students learning a new group of tricky words which have been: caught, who and people. Additionally, students and teachers alike have had the chance to learn and practice our ‘bossy e rap’ as well as our ‘people’ chant which has been lots of fun!
Maths:
We have been continuing to learn more about place value, which has seen plenty of great results for our students as they build their knowledge and confidence in this area. In addition, we have also moved into a larger focus on partitioning numbers during week 6 and it’s been wonderful to see our students embracing this new challenge. There have also been a few fun activities that have allowed students to get up and moving around the classroom in search of place value and MAB puzzle pieces as well as a classroom ‘scoot’ to help partition numbers into hundreds, tens and ones.
Integrated:
Students have had the chance to learn about their families past and history. Thank you to all parents and family members who helped our students to complete their take home questioner about which allowed our students to work together to create their fantastic ‘Life in the Past’ poster about their elders and family members.
School Photos
It is great that our students have settled into the new school year! They have had a chance to get to know their new teachers and class. In week 6 everyone came together to be part of our class photos, (everyone looked great by the way!). It was also wonderful for all our students to be part of Grayling Primary School’s five-year anniversary whole school photo. We were proud and excited to have each of our students be part of such a memorable occasion!
Swimming:
The Year 2 team is also looking forward to our upcoming swimming lessons in week 8. This is also a chance for a quick reminder to ensure that your child is registered in Compass to attend this event.
